Korea National University of Transportation Operates High School Linkage Program to Foster Talent in Advanced Bio Fields in Collaboration with RISE Project Group

Korea National University of Transportation has opened a venue for exchange to introduce the future of cutting-edge science and technology to local high school students and assist them in designing customized career paths.

The university announced that it successfully hosted a "Local High School Student Linkage HUB" program by inviting students from Chungangtap High School in Chungju to its campus. This event was planned as part of an educational cooperation initiative led by the RISE Project Group to introduce local youth to the advanced research environment in the fields of bio and medical sciences and to provide concrete career exploration opportunities linked to university admission. Faculty from the Department of Nanomedical Engineering, high school students, and school officials participated in large numbers, demonstrating keen interest.

Under the theme "A Dream World Realized When Nano and Medical Meet," faculty members took the podium to explain key research areas in an easy-to-understand manner during the program. A diverse range of the latest research cases and future prospects in cutting-edge bio-medical fields were introduced, including cosmetics and bio-diagnostic research, technologies for safely and effectively delivering drugs, and research on tissue regeneration and stem cells.

Through the lectures, participating students learned about specific examples of how nanotechnology is utilized across the medical and bio industries. During the subsequent Q&A session, they had a valuable opportunity to resolve questions they had regarding their majors and career paths by communicating directly with professors. In addition, detailed information on the Department of Nanomedical Engineering's latest curriculum and upcoming admissions was provided, offering practical insights to students preparing for university admission.

An official from the Department of Nanomedical Engineering at Korea National University of Transportation expressed hope that this program served as a milestone for students to gain a broad understanding of the cutting-edge bio-medical field and design their own specific career paths. The official added that the department will continue to focus on cultivating outstanding talent to lead future science and technology by expanding organic cooperation with local high schools.

Meanwhile, the Department of Nanomedical Engineering at Korea National University of Transportation plans to partner with the RISE Project Group to continuously expand and establish customized educational programs linked to the local community. We plan to run an additional three-day in-depth science experience program this month with pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, stem cells, and cosmetics as detailed themes, to support students in personally experiencing the university's cutting-edge research processes.
