[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 통영시가 지난 27일부터 29일까지 용호도와 통영 일원에서 고양이를 매개로 한 소셜 매칭 프로그램 '묘한 인연'을 운영하며 체류형 관광 콘텐츠 가능성을 확인했다.

이번 프로그램은 문화체육관광부 남부권 광역관광개발사업인 '용호도 고양이섬 K-관광명소 육성 사업'의 일환으로 추진됐다. 고양이를 공통 관심사로 가진 20~30대 미혼 남녀 8명이 참가해 여행과 체험을 함께하며 자연스럽게 교류하는 방식으로 진행됐다.

참가자들은 용호도 포로수용소 전시관과 용머리해안, 공공형 고양이 보호·분양센터를 둘러보고 길고양이 돌봄 활동과 지역 먹거리 체험에 참여했다. 이어 통영 야경요트투어와 1대1 대화, 최종 선택 프로그램 등을 통해 교류의 시간을 가졌다.

통영시는 고양이라는 공통 관심사를 활용해 젊은 세대의 자연스러운 만남과 관광을 결합한 새로운 체류형 관광 모델을 제시했다는 점에서 의미가 있다고 평가했다. 참가자들도 통영과 용호도의 관광 매력에 높은 만족도를 보이며 재방문 의사를 밝혔다.

시 관계자는 "용호도만의 차별화된 콘텐츠를 활용해 젊은 세대가 자연스럽게 찾을 수 있는 관광 프로그램의 가능성을 확인했다"며 "반려동물을 활용한 치유·힐링 콘텐츠를 지속적으로 발굴해 용호도를 K-관광명소로 육성해 나가겠다"고 말했다.
