[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시는 기후에너지환경부 주관 ‘2026년 탄소중립 우수사례 지자체 평가’에서 기초지자체 부문 전국 1위를 차지해, 지난해에 이어 2년 연속 기후에너지환경부 장관 표창을 받는다고 13일 밝혔다.
이번 평가는 전국 광역·기초지자체가 제출한 탄소중립 우수사례 73건을 대상으로 평가위원 5명이 사업의 적절성, 효과성, 적극성, 확산성 등을 종합적으로 심사하여 고득점 순으로 결정되었다.
창원시는 2050 탄소중립 실현을 위해 △민·관협력 탄소중립 네트워크 구축(중소기업 탄소중립 전환지원, 폐현수막 순환재활용사업, 장례식장·프로스포츠 경기장 다회용기 확산) △시민과 함께하는 탄소중립 실천문화 확산(누비자 탄소중립포인트 지급, 외국인·미래세대 환경교육 강화) △기후위기 적응 및 친환경 녹색인프라 확충(공공장소 쿨링포크 및 공공시설 태양광 설치·운영) △디지털 기반 탄소중립 고도화(탄소중립 플랫폼 및 환경교육포털 구축·운영) 등 다양한 분야에서 탄소중립 정책을 추진하며 탄소중립을 시민의 일상과 지역사회 전반으로 확산하여 왔다.
