Jecheon City Conducts Basic Training for GAP Certification to Produce Safe Agricultural Products

Jecheon City will conduct basic training on the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certification at the Chungbuk Technopark Oriental Medicine and Natural Products Center on May 26 at 10:00 AM. GAP certification is a system designed to manage hazardous elements from production to sales to ensure the supply of safe and hygienic agricultural products and sustainable agriculture; to maintain the certification, mandatory legal training must be completed every two years.

This two-hour training session will feature a professional instructor and will focus on the GAP certification process, the Positive List System (PLS), and methods for keeping farming logs. While the primary target audience is farmers who applied for this year's "Excellent Medicinal Herb GAP Certification Project," farmers cultivating other crops who require training can also participate through pre-registration or on-site registration on the day of the event.

Jecheon City operates this training at least twice a year for the convenience of farmers and plans to conduct additional training this coming June. In addition, the city is planning three consumer education sessions this year to help consumers understand GAP-certified agricultural products and boost consumption. Meanwhile, the Herbal Medicine Specialization Team of the Oriental Medicine and Natural Products Division of Jecheon City is actively supporting GAP certification, production, and processing for 15 types of herbs to enhance the competitiveness of local herbal farms and businesses.
