Jecheon City Ends Temporary Use of Sinwol-dong Park Golf Course… Reflecting Noise Complaints and Residents’ Opinions
The Sinwol Temporary Park Golf Course, located at 1462 Sinwol-dong, Jecheon City, will cease operations at the end of this December following the expiration of its temporary usage period. In line with this, Jecheon City has set out to prepare follow-up measures that reflect both the improvement of residents' living environments and the demand for recreational sports.
The facility was established by temporarily utilizing land designated for distribution and business facilities within the Mini Complex Town; it was installed on the premise that it would operate only for a fixed duration from the time of its creation.
While it has served as a space for local enthusiasts' athletic activities, resident complaints regarding the sound of golf clubs being struck and noise during early morning hours have been persistent since its opening. In particular, as occupancy of adjacent apartments has recently begun in earnest, complaints requesting improvements to residential living conditions have steadily increased.
At the same time, there are continuing calls to create an alternative site to ensure the continuity of athletic activities for existing park golf users.
A Jecheon City official stated that since the Sinwol temporary park golf course was originally established for temporary operation, it is scheduled to cease operations in accordance with the planned duration. The official added that they will comprehensively review alternatives acceptable to citizens, taking into account both the securing of residential conditions for residents and the needs of sports enthusiasts.
