The Incheon Center for Creative Economy Innovation (CEO Lee Jae-seon, hereinafter the Incheon Center), in cooperation with Chengdu, China, is once again hosting the Korean regional preliminaries for the 'Golden Panda Global Innovation Startup Competition' and the 'Korea-China AI Startup Competition' this year, and is recruiting promising domestic startups hoping to enter the Chinese market.
The Incheon Center serves as a platform that discovers domestic startups hoping to enter the Chinese market and connects them with practical follow-up support, including advancement to global finals, linking with local investments, and securing workspaces. These two competitions are China's leading global startup programs focused on technology-based and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors, providing participating startups with tangible opportunities to expand into China.
Hosting the Korean preliminary round of the 'Golden Panda Global Innovation & Startup Competition' for 3 consecutive years
The Golden Panda Global Innovation Startup Competition is an international startup contest held annually by the Chengdu High-tech Zone in China to support the entry of promising technology-based startups from around the world into the Chinese market. Following last year, the Incheon Center is operating the Korean preliminary round for the third consecutive year, selecting startups with outstanding technological capabilities in four major sectors: new energy, electronic information, advanced biopharmaceuticals, and materials, parts, and equipment. Approximately 10 companies that pass the preliminary round will be included in the Top 200 of the global preliminary round and advance to the finals held in Chengdu this coming October. The finals will feature IR presentations and business matching with local Chinese investors, and winning companies will be provided with substantial incentives, including a total prize pool of approximately 330 million KRW, startup space (500㎡), occupancy support, and investment linkages.
New Host for Korea Preliminary Round of 'Korea-China AI Startup Competition'
This year, the Incheon Center is newly hosting the Korean preliminary round of the 'Korea-China-Singapore AI Startup Competition.' This global AI competition involves three countries—Korea, China, and Singapore—and targets promising startups in various AI application fields, including physical AI, large-scale language models (LLM), and AI agents, as well as computer vision, autonomous driving, and healthcare. The Korean preliminary round will be held in Seoul in late May through offline presentation evaluations. Approximately five finalist companies will advance to the Chengdu finals in October, which will consist of about 15 companies, following a global preliminary round. Finalist companies will be provided with opportunities to connect with Chinese investors and can receive benefits such as prize money of up to 200,000 yuan (approximately 38 million KRW) and access to co-working spaces.
Starting with cooperation with the Chengdu High-tech Zone in 2016, the Incheon Center has maintained a strategic partnership with the city of Chengdu for many years. In particular, it has built a foundation for Korean startups to enter the Chinese market through the operation of joint programs with the Xiaomi Ecosystem Startup Cafe, as well as through global IR and coordinating startup spaces. Korean companies consistently win awards at the Golden Panda finals every year, proving the technological competitiveness of domestic startups in the Chinese market.
Lee Jae-seon, CEO of the Incheon Center for Creative Economy Innovation, stated, “The Incheon Center is establishing itself as a startup support platform specialized for China, going beyond simple exchanges to assist Korean startups in making a practical entry into and settling into the Chinese market,” adding, “We look forward to the active participation of startups hoping to expand globally in the technology and AI sectors.”
Registration for both competitions is open until May 6 via email (panda@biigwave.org). Applicants must submit required documents, including the application form, IR materials (Korean-English or Korean-Chinese), and a business registration certificate. Further details can be found on the Incheon Creative Economy Innovation Center website.
