온라인으로 인감증명서를 발급받으려면 정부24 누리집에 회원가입을 한 뒤 신청하면 된다. 다만 부정 발급을 방지하기 위해 온라인 발급은 본인이 직접 신청하는 경우에만 가능하며 대리 신청은 엄격히 제한된다. 또한 모든 용도의 인감증명서가 온라인으로 발급되는 것은 아니다. 재산권과 직결되는 부동산 및 자동차 매도용 인감증명서는 기존대로 행정기관을 방문해야 하며, 일반용 인감증명서 중에서도 법원이나 금융기관 제출용을 제외한 면허 신청, 경력 증명 등의 용도로만 발급받을 수 있다.
이번 서비스 도입으로 행정기관을 찾는 번거로움이 사라지는 것은 물론 수수료 없이 무료로 발급받을 수 있어 군민들의 시간적·경제적 부담이 크게 경감될 것으로 예상된다. 현재 정부24에서는 인감증명서 외에도 주민등록등·초본, 가족관계증명서, 토지대장 등 일상생활에서 자주 쓰이는 민원 서류들도 무료로 즉시 발급하는 서비스를 제공하고 있다.
