Ochang Nonghyup Farmers' Wives Association Holds "Hope Sweet Potato Planting" Event

On the 24th, Ochang Nonghyup and the Farmers' Wives Association held the "Hope Sharing Sweet Potato Planting" event at farmland in Yeocheon-ri, Ochang-eup, to raise social contribution funds and spread a culture of sharing.

Approximately 20 members of the Farmers' Wives Association participated in the event, carefully planting 160 bundles of sweet potato seedlings starting early in the morning.

In particular, after completing the planting, they also contributed to creating a clean rural environment by conducting village cleanup activities, such as collecting trash and discarded farming materials around the village.

The sweet potatoes planted during the event will be harvested in the fall and sold. The proceeds will be utilized as a social contribution fund to support rice consumption promotion campaigns and various forms of assistance for the underprivileged in the region. Chairwoman Kim Cheong-sun stated, “I thank all the members who participated in the event despite the busy farming season,” adding, “It is meaningful to be able to make a small contribution to the local community by participating in sweet potato planting and environmental cleanup activities.”

Chairman Kim Young-woo remarked, “The Ochang Agricultural Cooperative’s Farm Housewives’ Group is setting an example in the community by consistently practicing sharing and volunteering,” and added, “We will actively support their continued contributions to the local community.”
