와 손잡고 서울의 글로벌 AI 산업 생태계 확대에 나선다. 지난 18일부터 22일까지 진행한 미국 서부 투자유치 프로그램의 핵심 성과로 Plug and Play(PnP)와 ‘AI CoE(AI Center of Excellence)’ 설립을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 전했다.
이번 협약은 해외 AI 기업이 서울로 유입될 수 있는 상설 협력 채널 구축에 의미가 있다는 평가다. Plug and Play는 구글과 페이팔 등 글로벌 빅테크 초기 발굴로 알려진 세계 최대 액셀러레이터로, 전 세계 70여 개 거점과 100개 이상의 보육기업 네트워크를 운영하고 있다.

서울투자진흥재단은 이번 미국 서부 IR 프로그램 ‘서울포워드(Seoul Forward)’를 실리콘밸리와 LA까지 확대 운영했다. 지난 19일 Plug and Play 테크센터에서 열린 행사에는 글로벌 기업 50개사와 관계자 150여 명이 참석해 서울의 투자 환경과 R&D 인프라에 높은 관심을 보였다.
행사에서는

가 서울 진출 성공 사례를 공유했으며, 현대모비스 CVC와 글로벌 AI 기업 관계자, 법률·컨설팅 전문가 등이 참여한 패널 세션도 이어졌다. 이 자리에서는 서울의 딥테크 산업 경쟁력과 글로벌 비즈니스 환경 등이 논의됐다.
딥테크 기업 10개사 대상 맞춤형 진출 지원
재단은 투자설명회와 함께 서울 진출 가능성이 높은 피지컬 AI·첨단소재 분야 기업 10개사를 직접 방문해 1:1 심화 면담도 진행했다.
기업별 비즈니스 모델과 기술 경쟁력을 분석하고, 서울 진출 과정에서 필요한 맞춤형 솔루션과 투자 인센티브를 연계하는 방식이다. LA에서는 글로벌 F&B 브랜드들과 별도 미팅도 진행하며 산업별 투자유치 활동을 병행했다.

과 함께 현지 VC 및 창업가 50여 명이 참여한 AI 특화 투자설명회 ‘Seoul meets AI’도 운영했다. 행사에서는 한국계 창업가들이 서울 인프라를 기반으로 글로벌 시장에 재진출하는 ‘역진출(U-Turn)’ 전략이 주요 화두로 다뤄졌다.
서울투자진흥재단은 하반기 중 투자·고용 계획 등을 검토해 선발 기업을 서울로 초청하는 ‘투자실사단’ 프로그램도 운영할 예정이다.
이지형 서울투자진흥재단 이사장은 “Plug and Play와의 협력은 서울이 아시아를 대표하는 AI 투자 거점으로 도약하는 중요한 전환점이 될 것”이라며 “샌디에고와 파리 등에서도 서울포워드를 이어가며 글로벌 테크 기업 유치 파이프라인을 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

is partnering with
Plug and Play
, the world's largest accelerator, to expand Seoul's global AI industry ecosystem. It announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Plug and Play (PnP) to establish an 'AI Center of Excellence (AI CoE)' as a key achievement of the West Coast investment attraction program held from the 18th to the 22nd.
This agreement is considered significant for establishing a permanent cooperation channel that can attract overseas AI companies to Seoul. Plug and Play is the world's largest accelerator, known for discovering global big tech companies such as Google and PayPal in their early stages, and operates over 70 locations worldwide and a network of more than 100 incubated companies.

The Seoul Investment Promotion Agency expanded its U.S. West Coast IR program, 'Seoul Forward,' to include Silicon Valley and Los Angeles. The event, held on the 19th at the Plug and Play Tech Center, was attended by approximately 150 representatives from 50 global companies, who showed keen interest in Seoul's investment environment and R&D infrastructure.
At the event,

shared its success story of entering the Seoul market, followed by a panel session featuring representatives from Hyundai Mobis CVC, global AI companies, and legal and consulting experts. The session discussed Seoul's deep tech industry competitiveness and the global business environment.
Customized market entry support for 10 deep tech companies
Along with the investment briefing, the foundation also directly visited 10 companies in the fields of physical AI and advanced materials that have high potential to enter Seoul and conducted in-depth one-on-one interviews.
This approach involves analyzing each company's business model and technological competitiveness, and linking them with customized solutions and investment incentives necessary for their entry into the Seoul market. In LA, separate meetings were held with global F&B brands, and industry-specific investment attraction activities were conducted in parallel.
In addition, together with
the law firm Mission,
we organized 'Seoul meets AI,' an AI-specialized investment briefing attended by approximately 50 local VCs and entrepreneurs. At the event, the 'U-Turn' strategy—where Korean entrepreneurs re-enter the global market based on Seoul's infrastructure—was a major topic of discussion.
The Seoul Investment Promotion Foundation also plans to operate an 'Investment Due Diligence Team' program in the second half of the year, inviting selected companies to Seoul after reviewing their investment and employment plans.
Lee Ji-hyung, Chairman of the Seoul Investment Promotion Agency, said, “Cooperation with Plug and Play will be a significant turning point for Seoul to leap forward as a leading AI investment hub in Asia,” adding, “We will continue Seoul Forward in cities such as San Diego and Paris to expand our pipeline for attracting global tech companies.”

財団は投資説明会とともにソウル進出の可能性が高いフィジカルAI・先端素材分野企業10社を直接訪問し、1:1深化面談も行った。
企業別のビジネスモデルと技術競争力を分析し、ソウル進出過程で必要なカスタマイズされたソリューションと投資インセンティブを連携する方式だ。 LAではグローバルF&Bブランドと別途ミーティングも進行し、産業別投資誘致活動を並行した。

とともに現地VC及び創業家50人余りが参加したAI特化投資説明会「Seoul meets AI」も運営した。イベントでは、韓国系創業者がソウルインフラを基盤にグローバル市場に再進出する「逆進出（U-Turn）」戦略が主要な話題になった。
ソウル投資振興財団は下半期中に投資・雇用計画などを検討し、選抜企業をソウルに招待する「投資実践団」プログラムも運営する予定だ。

À Los Angeles, des réunions distinctes ont été organisées avec des marques internationales du secteur agroalimentaire, et des actions de prospection d'investissements ciblées ont été menées en parallèle.
Par ailleurs, en collaboration avec
le cabinet d'avocats Mission,
nous avons organisé « Séoul rencontre l'IA », une réunion d'information sur l'investissement en intelligence artificielle qui a rassemblé une cinquantaine de capital-risqueurs et d'entrepreneurs locaux. Lors de cet événement, la stratégie de « retournement de situation » – permettant aux entrepreneurs coréens de réintégrer le marché mondial en s'appuyant sur les infrastructures de Séoul – a été un sujet de discussion majeur.
La Fondation pour la promotion des investissements de Séoul prévoit également de mettre en œuvre un programme d'« équipe de vérification préalable des investissements » au cours du second semestre, en invitant des entreprises sélectionnées à Séoul après examen de leurs plans d'investissement et d'emploi.
