[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 밀양시시설관리공단은 밀양시 생활폐기물 소각시설이 경상남도의 '미세먼지 저감 자발적 협약(3단계)' 이행 실적 평가에서 우수 사업장으로 선정됐다고 21일 밝혔다.
경남도는 협약 참여 사업장을 대상으로 대기오염물질 감축 실적 등을 평가했으며, 밀양 소각시설은 먼지 98%, 황산화물(SOx) 97%, 질소산화물(NOx) 98%의 저감률을 기록해 협약 목표를 충실히 이행한 것으로 평가받았다.
이번 선정으로 소각시설은 올해 상반기 기본부과금을 감면받고, 하반기부터는 자가측정 주기가 완화된다. 또 최근 2년간 환경 관련 위반 사항이 없는 점 등을 인정받아 2027년 상반기부터는 환경오염물질 배출시설 통합 지도·점검 대상에 포함돼 행정 부담도 줄어들 전망이다.
공단은 대기오염물질 저감을 위해 방지시설을 지속적으로 개선하고 소각시설 최적 운영과 실시간 환경관리 체계를 강화하는 등 친환경 시설 운영을 추진해 왔다.
밀양시시설관리공단 관계자는 "환경기준을 철저히 준수하며 대기오염물질 저감에 노력한 결과"라며 "앞으로도 체계적인 시설 운영과 환경관리를 통해 시민이 신뢰하는 친환경 소각시설을 운영하겠다"고 말했다.
