Naju Technical High School and Mokpo Technical High School Selected as Outstanding Schools for Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ ‘Specialized High School Human Resource Development Project’

Listed among the top 32 out of 150 schools nationwide… Secured additional project funding as specialized schools in the ‘New Technology Focused Support’ category - Jeonnam Office of Education to provide all-out customized support to designate Mokpo Technical High School as a ‘Meister High School’ and Naju Technical High School as a ‘Contract-based Specialized High School’

(Muan = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The ‘Talent Development Tailored to Regional Strategic Industries’ policy, promoted by the Jeollanam-do Office of Education in line with future industry trends, is yielding tangible results.

According to the Office of Education, Naju Technical High School (hereinafter Naju Technical High School) and Mokpo Technical High School (hereinafter Mokpo Technical High School) achieved the remarkable feat of being selected as ‘Outstanding Schools’ in the ‘2025 SME Specialized High School Human Resource Development Project Performance Evaluation’ organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. This evaluation was conducted on 150 specialized high schools nationwide following a rigorous review of their overall program operations. Consequently, 32 schools across the country, including Naju Technical High School and Mokpo Technical High School, were awarded the honor of being named "Outstanding Schools."

The "SME Specialized High School Workforce Training Project" is a government initiative that supports the overall vocational education of specialized high schools to cultivate skilled technical personnel capable of immediate deployment to the field of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It plays a pivotal role in increasing youth employment rates and resolving labor shortages in SMEs through job matching between schools and companies.

Naju Technical High School and Mokpo Technical High School received high marks for establishing solid cooperative relationships with leading local SMEs last year and for effectively operating field-oriented, customized employment programs such as industry-academia customized classes, SME understanding training, and the "One Team, One Company" project.

In particular, along with their selection as Outstanding Schools, both schools were also designated as specialized schools in the "New Technology Focused Support" category, achieving the valuable result of securing additional project funding. The additional funds secured will be primarily invested in diversifying customized career paths in the digital new industry sector and enhancing the practical training environment.

A school official stated, "We will continue to solidify mutually beneficial partnerships with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, relevant institutions, and local companies," adding, "We will provide unsparing support so that our students can grow into key talents who will lead the growth of local industries."

Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education plans to use this achievement as a stepping stone to further strengthen the competitiveness of Jeonnam-type vocational high schools. Currently, the Office is continuing to provide customized support while communicating closely with schools on the ground, aiming for the new designation of Mokpo Technical High School as the "20th Meister High School" and the selection of Naju Technical High School as a "Contract-Type Specialized High School."

An official from the Office of Education stated, "We expect that the additional funds secured through this selection as an outstanding school will organically combine with the Office's key educational policies to create a significant synergy effect in cultivating customized professional personnel needed by the local industrial sector."
