서구는 지난 16일 서구청 들불홀에서 아동·청소년 기관 종사자, 학부모, 예술·돌봄 전문가 등이 참석한 가운데 ‘AI시대 인간다움, 놀이와 예술로 지켜내다’를 주제로 미래교육포럼을 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이번 포럼은 AI 기술이 급속도로 발전하는 시대적 변화 속에서 ‘인간다움’을 미래 교육의 핵심 가치로 설정하고, 아이들의 성장 과정에서 놀이와 예술, 그리고 지역사회가 수행해야 할 역할과 정책 방향을 논의하기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 포럼에서는 사단법인 꿈틀리 이사장을 맡고 있는 오연호 오마이뉴스 대표가 ‘AI시대로의 질주, 우리는 더 행복할까?’를 주제로 기조 발제에 나섰다. 오 대표는 “AI 시대를 준비하는 가장 중요한 힘은 자기주도성과 공감능력”이라며 “기술의 속도를 맹목적으로 따라가는 교육보다 아이들이 있는 그대로의 자신을 사랑하고, 서로 협력하며 살아갈 수 있는 건강한 공동체를 만드는 일이 더욱 중요하다”고 역설했다.
이어 진행된 토론에는 오은비 팝업플레이 서울 대표, 김주희 전주문화재단 예술교육팀장, 김결 와글플레이 이사, 김혜일 함께서구 행복학교 교장이 토론자로 참여해 AI 시대에 필요한 교육의 가치와 지역사회 중심의 미래교육 모델에 대해 심도 있는 논의를 펼쳤다.
포럼 참석자들은 AI가 지식과 정보를 대신하는 시대일수록 창의성, 공감 능력, 협동심 등 AI가 대체할 수 없는 ‘인간만의 고유한 역량’을 키우는 교육이 중요하다는 데 입을 모았다. 아려 아울러 지역사회가 놀이와 예술을 기반으로 아이들의 안전한 배움터이자 성장의 든든한 기반이 되는 미래교육 환경을 함께 조성해야 한다는 데 뜻을 같이했다.
서구는 이번 포럼에서 제안된 다채로운 의견을 적극 수렴해 ‘함께서구 행복학교’와 ‘화정숲 프로젝트’를 비롯한 놀이·예술 기반 교육 프로그램을 확대할 방침이다. 이를 통해 지역사회와 함께 미래세대를 키우는 ‘서구형 미래교육 모델’을 더욱 확고히 구체화해 나갈 계획이다.
김이강 서구청장은 “AI 시대가 심화될수록 우리 아이들에게 진정으로 필요한 것은 스스로 생각하고 공감하며 함께 살아가는 힘”이라며 “앞으로 ‘함께서구 행복학교’를 중심축으로 삼아, 아이들이 다양한 경험 속에서 창의성과 공감능력을 키우며 행복하게 성장할 수 있는 최적의 환경을 만들어가겠다”고 전했다.
