Gwangyang FEZ Authority to Expand Territory in ‘Secondary Battery and Consumer Goods’ in China’s Anhui and Heilongjiang Provinces

Director Gu Chung-gon to Visit Hefei and Harbin for 5 Days Starting the 11th… All-out Effort to Attract Investment for ‘K-Brands’ and Future Industries - Signing of MOU with Anhui Provincial Association of Science and Entrepreneurs and Conducting Promotion Across China via People's Daily Online

(Muan/Gwangyang = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (hereinafter Gwangyang FEZ Authority) has set out to lay the groundwork for attracting Chinese secondary battery and consumer goods companies in response to the restructuring of global supply chains.

The Gwangyang FEZ Authority announced that it will conduct large-scale investment attraction activities during a five-day visit to Hefei in Anhui Province and Harbin in Heilongjiang Province, China, from May 11 to 15. This visit was organized to strengthen the status of the Gwangyang Bay area, which has emerged as a hub for the secondary battery materials industry, and to discover consumer goods manufacturing companies that leverage K-brand power.

On the 11th, the first day of the visit, Commissioner Gu Chung-gon held a meeting in Hefei with Li Hongwei, CEO of Anhui Dongbao Food, which has been operating a food import and export business after investing in the Gwangyang Bay area since 2015. During the meeting, Commissioner Gu listened to plans to expand food investment by capitalizing on the recent K-food craze and the latest export trends in the Korean and Japanese markets, while addressing the difficulties faced by existing investors.

Following this, he signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Anhui Provincial Association of Science and Entrepreneurs and conducted personalized, close investment consultations for potential investors in the secondary battery sector within the jurisdiction.

In the latter part of the schedule, he will move to Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, to hold a ‘GFEZ Investment Briefing’ for approximately 50 local companies. The Gwangyang Free Economic Zone Authority plans to intensively promote the logistical advantages of Gwangyang Port and its FTA network at this event, aiming to secure substantial investment agreements.

In particular, during this campaign, the Authority is collaborating with the Korea branch of People's Daily Online, the online media outlet of the People's Daily, the official newspaper of the Chinese Communist Party. The strategy is to build trust among potential investors by extensively exposing GFEZ’s excellent investment environment to the entirety of China.

Goo Chung-gon, Head of the Gwangyang Free Economic Zone Authority, emphasized, “Through this investment attraction activity in China, we will establish a solid cooperative system with global secondary battery and consumer goods companies as well as related organizations,” adding, “Starting with the briefing session for companies in Heilongjiang Province, we will do our utmost to achieve tangible results in attracting foreign capital.”
