(KEPCO)
Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) said Tuesday it has signed an agreement with U.S. energy company Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. (PSEG) to cooperate on a 765 kilovolt (kV) ultra-high-voltage transmission network project in the United States.
Under the deal, KEPCO will provide technical consulting to PSEG and may participate in project development and execution through equity investment and the establishment of a special purpose company, with potential investment tied to PSEG securing U.S. project contracts.
KEPCO also plans to partner with Korean equipment suppliers to enter the U.S. transmission market, aiming to expand overseas opportunities and strengthen the sector’s competitiveness.
A PSEG official said KEPCO brings proven technology and operational experience, adding the partnership is expected to deliver results in U.S. power infrastructure projects.
“The deal underscores KEPCO’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) capabilities and grid operation expertise in ultra-high-voltage transmission globally,” said KEPCO President Kim Dong-cheol. “We will continue expanding in the U.S. power market.”
KEPCO said it plans to use the project as a stepping stone to expand into new energy businesses in the U.S., including intelligent digital power plants and advanced distribution management systems.
