K-pop powerhouse JYP Entertainment
donated 100 million won ($66,300) to a pediatric rehabilitation hospital as part of its social contribution initiative, the company said Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the K-pop agency and Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital signed an agreement to use the donation to help financially troubled children with disabilities and purchase assistive medical devices for patients aged 24 or younger.
Starting this donation, the K-pop agency will continue its support to help ease the financial burden on patients and their families at the hospital and assist them in receiving treatment without disruptions.
“Beyond the support for treatment and surgeries, we decided to establish a partnership to make our support continue into rehabilitation,” said Byun Sang-bong, chief financial officer of the agency. “I hope our support will help broaden the reach of this positive influence.”
“We shall use the donated fund meaningfully so it could be practical support for patients in need of treatment and their families,” said Lee Ji-sun, head of the hospital. “It will be used to cover medical expenses for rehabilitation care and medical equipment purchases.”
Since 2020, JYP Entertainment has rolled out the EDM project, which stands for “Every Dream Matters." The company has donated 7.9 billion won and benefited 4,101 child patients in 10 nations worldwide, including Korea.
