Anak Village in Sonbul-myeon, Hampyeong-gun Hosts ‘Harmony Festival’ Bringing Together Returnees and Residents
Approximately 40 Participants Attended Anak Beach on the 14th… Promoting Harmony Through Meals and Conversation - Head of Myeon Im Su-yeong: “We Will Strive to Create a Warm and Vibrant Village Community”
(Hampyeong = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = Sonbul-myeon, Hampyeong-gun, Jeonnam Gwangju Metropolitan City, organized a meaningful event to bridge the emotional gap between returnees and local residents and to realize a warm village community based on communication and harmony.
Hampyeong-gun announced on the 17th that it successfully held the ‘2026 Returnee and Rural Settlement Harmony Festival’ on the 14th at Anak Beach in Sonbul-myeon, bringing together returnees and local residents. This event was organized to help those returning to farming, fishing, and rural life—who have settled in search of a new home—naturally mingle with their neighbors and form deep bonds with the long-time residents. Approximately 40 people, including residents of Anak Village (Village Head An Gyo-tae) and the newcomers, gathered amidst the stunning natural scenery of the wide-open Anak Beach and lush pine forests to strengthen their camaraderie.
The attendees shared prepared food, exchanged details of their daily lives and the difficulties they faced during the settlement process, and broadened their understanding of one another, all while sharing laughter in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Notably, the gathering went beyond a mere one-time event; they reached a consensus on the village's development direction and strategies for community revitalization, achieving emotional integration.
Anak Village, where the meeting took place, was selected as the final site for the "2026 Rural Returnee Harmony Village Creation Project," which aims to spread a warm culture of mutual coexistence between newcomers and local residents. Based on this, Anak Village is continuously expanding diverse resident-led harmony programs to prevent conflicts among residents and broaden the scope of sustainable exchange.
Sonbul-myeon Head Lim Su-yeong stated, “This ‘Harmony Festival’ served as a rewarding opportunity for original residents and newcomers to farming, fishing, and rural life to break down barriers and become true neighbors.” He added, “We will continue to plan various on-site, customized programs that allow residents to communicate and mingle freely, aiming to create a warm and vibrant Sonbul-myeon where everyone wants to live and stay.”
