Paju Cultural Foundation to Stage Two Plays and Traditional Arts Performances at Unjeong Happiness Center in August

Selected for the State-Funded Regional Distribution Project, Starting with 'Me and My Grandfather' on the 14th and Ending with 'Classy Ta' on the 21st

The Paju Cultural Foundation has prepared a series of performances for the citizens of Paju this midsummer.

It has been announced that two works selected for the 2026 Performing Arts Regional Distribution Project, organized by the Korea Arts Management Service, will be staged sequentially at the Unjeong Happiness Center throughout the month of August. On August 14th and 15th, the play <Me and My Grandfather>, produced by Performance Delivery Service Ganda, will meet the audience, followed by Production Beom's <Classy Ta> on the 21st.

Taking the stage first, <Me and My Grandfather> will be performed twice—at 7 PM on the 14th and 3 PM on the 15th—and is a work that weaves the story of a family into the process of completing the play. With a story that gently captures the conflicts and understanding within families encountered in ordinary daily life, as well as the ways different generations share their hearts, oscillating between laughter and poignancy to remind us of the true meaning of family, Yang Kyung-won, Seo Ye-hwa, and Kim Jong-hyun are set to deliver weighty performances, and interest is further heightened by the addition of Pyo Ji-hoon (P.O.) to the cast.

Following this, <Classy Ta> will take the stage at 7 PM on the 21st.

This performance is designed to blend traditional Korean arts, including Gugak, with various other artistic genres to allow the audience to approach the art comfortably and with interest. K-Rock Company takes the lead, with dancer Lee Jong-hwa and The Voice lending their support to create a time where singing, dancing, and instrumental performance harmonize as one. K-Rock Company is a team that has consistently made new attempts rooted in traditional Korean melodies while integrating disparate genres such as Western classical, jazz, and popera.

These two performances are part of a regional distribution project funded by the government through the Arts Management Support Center. A total of five related performances are scheduled to take place in Paju this year, and these two August productions are included in that series. The Foundation expressed its intention to use this open call project as a stepping stone to consistently introduce high-quality performing arts to local audiences and broaden the scope of their cultural lives.

They also added that the schedule was curated to allow audiences to encounter performances of various styles without leaning towards any single genre, by scheduling consecutive stages that combine theater and traditional arts within a single month.

A Foundation official conveyed that being selected for the government funding program to share high-quality performances with local residents holds great significance. They expressed hope that citizens would experience the joy of performing arts close to their daily lives through the two performances held at the Unjeong Happiness Center this summer.
