[Culture Slogan Visit] Meisters – 'Systematizing and Standardizing Blue-Collar Services'
Everyone has likely experienced this at least once: a bathroom door that won't close tightly, a loose window handle, or a faucet dangling slightly. You don't know where to start to fix it, calling a professional seems like too much of a hassle, and contacting the apartment management office doesn't really help. So you search online, but finding a trustworthy company among the many available is difficult. Eventually, you just end up putting up with it. After all, it doesn't affect your daily life, even if it's inconvenient. Today, I would like to talk about the organizational culture of Meisters, a company that is rewriting the standards for on-site service.
CEO Cheon Hong-jun is a former technician. Starting in his 20s, he traveled across the country dismantling and repairing bidets, water purifiers, electric range hoods, and built-in air conditioners, eventually becoming the nation's top-ranked after-sales service engineer. Using that experience as a stepping stone, he founded Meisters in 2019. In Korea, blue-collar technical jobs have long been undervalued as mere part-time work or a post-retirement option, relying on individual experience rather than manuals or established training systems. What CEO Cheon wanted to create was a system where technicians are respected as master craftsmen. This is also the reason why the name of the field engineer service brand is "Technicians."
Revenue of 26.8 billion KRW in 2025, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 91%. Cumulative services have exceeded 220,000, and the number of corporate clients has surpassed 300. We are setting a revenue roadmap of 50 billion KRW this year, 100 billion KRW next year, and 300 billion KRW by 2028. What is the MVC that has driven Meisters' growth?
Systematize and
standardize
blue
-collar services
Meisters' mission is to "systematize and standardize blue-collar services." What does this mean? For a long time, Korea's field service market was haphazard. It consisted of small-scale staffing agencies scattered across regions, freelancers, and O2O matching platforms that merely connected demanders and suppliers. There was significant disparity in communication between customers and engineers, work results were inconsistent, and it was difficult to determine liability when accidents occurred. The outcome varied depending on which technician was assigned.
"With just a manual and the tools, anyone can do it. The problem is that manuals and tools are missing. That is why Meisters has created manuals tailored to each product and site environment."
A system isn't anything grandiose. It is simply about creating a manual and ensuring that it is not swayed by the environment. Meisters has accumulated data on causes, replacement parts, and estimated repair times by product and symptom. We have standardized and modularized our work processes to ensure consistent quality regardless of who performs the task. While typical matching services stop at "assignment" and wash their hands of the matter, Meisters verifies results and takes full responsibility for settlement. It is a structure where the company checks the quality of the work and takes responsibility if any problems arise.
When a request is received, the AI immediately sends a reassuring alert, reviews the engineer's schedule, and suggests available times. If additional costs arise, the AI generates a checklist-based notice to explain them to the customer, and work only begins after the customer clicks OK. Once the repair is complete, a text message is automatically sent stating, "This part is covered by a 6-month warranty until [Month] [Day]." Information that once required payment if unknown has now become information provided proactively by the system. This demonstrates how the mission of "systematization and standardization" is being applied in the field through concrete tools such as manuals, data, and AI.
Systematizing all field work in
the
world
There is an impressive scene in the movie *The Founder*. It is the 'Speedy System' devised by the McDonald brothers. A kitchen that produces a hamburger in just 30 seconds, and that strange efficiency where the taste is the same no matter which branch or employee makes it. After watching this movie, CEO Cheon said.
I think we should become like a global franchise, not just a Michelin-starred restaurant.
What CEO Cheon wants to create is not 'one skilled technician,' but 'a service with the same quality regardless of the region or engineer.'
Currently, Meisters is focusing on the inside of our customers' homes. We plan to expand to accommodations and restaurants next year, followed by construction sites, and then to childcare, cleaning, and housekeeping services in five years. There is no other platform like Meisters that started in B2B and takes responsibility for the entire process from order to assignment, execution, verification, and settlement. We plan to expand overseas after succeeding in the domestic market.
To systematize and standardize blue-collar services and to systematize all field work in the world, Meisters has created five core values.
The Law of Standards First
–
A structure that adheres to standards
rather
than individuals who perform well
"We want people who build structures, not star players."
The moment we rely on a single highly skilled individual, quality collapses when that person leaves. It is an unsustainable structure for both customers and the service technicians working alongside us. That is why the greatest competitive advantage of the Meisters team members is not being "exceptional individuals," but rather having an "attitude of adhering to standards." Even when unexpected situations arise in the field, we do not make impulsive decisions; instead, we resolve problems within the standards agreed upon by the company and the customer. This is because the field is not a place to cast aside standards, but a place where those standards are put to the test.
This principle applies equally to recruitment. No matter how outstanding an individual's skills or performance may be, we believe that someone who is not interested in sharing their know-how or leaving it as a structure is not a good fit for Meisters in the long run.
A Solution Completed by a System
–
A Repeatable Solution
Rather
Than a Quick One
Trust is the result of design
–
trust built into structure
,
not individual ethics
.
The story goes that the car owner was furious because, recently, they took their luxury car to an official service center for repairs, only to find out the vehicle was scratched, and it turned out the repair was done by an outsourced company. The owners kept passing the buck regarding responsibility and eventually settled for a 1 million won offer.
Engineers can make mistakes. If they do, they might quit. On other platforms, they might just say, "We only made the introduction," and walk away, but we take full responsibility.
This trust ultimately leads to customer retention.
“I visited a house three times recently. The first time was because of the faucet, and the second was because the front door was creaking. But they asked me, ‘Can’t we install our air conditioner as a ceiling-mounted system?’”
The estimate came out to tens of millions of won. However, the customer replied without hesitation, "Please do it." What started as a free project and ended up as a construction job worth tens of millions of won was trust built on responsibility.
Trust is not built through persuasion. It is the result of the accumulation of structures that keep small promises and do not evade responsibility. Trust is born not from the sincerity or ethical awareness of individual drivers, but from a company's 'structure designed to take responsibility.'
Systematization that respects the field
–
The structure, not individuals, handles the complexity of the field.
“The biggest challenge I feel in the field is that problems always seem like exceptions. Even for the same installation task, variables always arise due to the site environment, customer requirements, and previous work history. That is why, at first, everyone says, ‘This is case-by-case, so we can’t turn it into a system.’”
However, CEO Cheon observes that upon closer inspection, there are not as many completely new problems as one might think. In most cases, it is simply a repetition of similar situations in slightly different forms.
Instead of trying to sort out every exception at once, start by establishing standards for frequently repeated judgments. Even if it isn't perfect, just keep it within the structure for now.
This is where AI plays a significant role. From receiving the request to scheduling the visit, AI responds immediately. In situations where it feels awkward for an engineer to say on-site, "There will be additional costs," the AI displays a checklist and calmly explains to the customer "why these costs apply." Even after the service is finished, the AI sends a text message. "Customer, the service you received today is covered under the Consumer Protection Act and is free of charge for up to six months for the same issue." This was information that used to be kept quiet. After all, if customers were unaware, they would simply pay for the service again.
Meisters systematized the complexity of the field. Such a system is created only when the field is examined to the very end.
Sustainable Co-prosperity
–
When partners are not consumed
,
services become an industry
"'Grinding it all in.' It’s a truly terrifying expression. It is a common phrase in the startup world, and because of this, I am afraid to join a startup. CEO Cheon says he doesn’t like this expression either. This is because he is an engineer by profession, and it doesn’t align with the meaning behind the name 'Meisters.'"
I intend to respect you, Pro, rather than treat you like a mere worker.
While it is common to retire after age 55, Meisters treats seniors with great respect. We also plan to lower the hurdles for engineers to start their own businesses. Meisters intends to support the initial capital required for engineers to become independent.
“I think it is better to start as a Meister or a technician rather than self-employment. I hope we become a country where people can work actively even after the age of 65.”
If partners are exhausted, the service cannot be sustained. Only when partners remain for a long time does this field become an 'industry' rather than 'individual labor.' This is the meaning of mutual growth that Meisters speaks of.
Ray Kroc in *The Founder* says, “It’s all thanks to the system.” I’m not talking about the secret recipe created by the McDonald brothers, but the order that ensures the same hamburger comes out no matter who is in the kitchen.
The vision of Meisters five years from now that CEO Cheon dreams of also resembles this.
“‘It is the company that set the standard for this industry.’ I would like this to be the first impression that comes to mind when people think of Meisters.”
