Chungcheongbuk-do Office of Education Operates 'High School Counseling Center' with Seoul National University Admissions Officers

The Chungcheongbuk-do Office of Education has partnered with Seoul National University to respond to the changing college admissions environment and strengthen the college guidance capabilities of high schools in the province. Starting on the 29th, the Office of Education will operate the "High School Counseling Center," a high school-university linkage program by Seoul National University, for 24 local high schools in the main office conference room.

This program is conducted by having Seoul National University admissions officers visit the Office of Education in person to share customized college admission information for each school. With schools participating from across the province—including not only the Cheongju area (such as Cheongwon High School and Chungbuk Science High School) but also cities and counties like Chungju, Jecheon, Yeongdong, Goesan, and Eumseong—it is expected to contribute to bridging the educational gap between regions.

At the counseling sessions, teachers from each school engage in in-depth conversations with admissions officers for 40 minutes based on questions prepared in advance. The main focus of the consultations is on sharing the actual educational conditions of local high schools with universities, establishing specific preparation directions for the Comprehensive Student Record Screening, and formulating admission strategies tailored to the specific characteristics of each school.

Jeong Mun-hee, Head of the Secondary Education Division, expressed optimism that close communication with universities would lead to the provision of practical information regarding college admissions. Following the consultations for high school teachers, the Chungbuk Office of Education plans to continuously reflect the needs of the educational field by holding the "2027 Seoul National University Admissions Briefing" for approximately 500 students and parents on May 13. Those wishing to participate in the briefing can pre-register via Naver Form.
