Jeonnam Student Council Makes ‘Shining Policy Proposals’ at Korea Youth Expo Grand Debate
Presenting Novel Ideas Including Bridging the Gap Between Urban and Rural Villages and Mandating Financial Education for Youth - Participating in a Nationwide Public Forum as Jeonnam Student Representatives… Providing an Opportunity to Strengthen Social Participation Capabilities
(Muan = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Jeonnam Student Council garnered attention by presenting novel policy alternatives to resolve local and social issues at a public forum where youth from across the country gathered.
Executives and members of the Jeonnam Student Council participated in the ‘22nd Korea Youth Expo Grand Debate,’ held at the Yeosu Expo on May 30, where they shared opinions on current social issues and presented in-depth policy proposals.
This grand debate was organized as a venue where youth from all over the country participated simultaneously online and offline to discuss various social problems and seek solutions. Its significance was further amplified by the fact that policy ideas directly devised by the youth could be reflected in the actual policy discussion process.
** At the forum held on this day, the Jeonnam Student Council participated in the themes of "bridging the gap" and "financial and economic education," presenting effective policy directions tailored to the perspectives of youth.
Key proposals included "measures to bridge the educational and cultural gap between regions" by expanding learning and cultural exchanges between urban and rural youth, and "the introduction of mandatory financial education hours nationwide" to improve youth's practical financial literacy. These ideas garnered significant empathy and positive responses from on-site participants and officials.
Through this activity, the council members broadened their perspectives to view current issues across society beyond regional limitations, and had a meaningful time communicating with their peers from across the country to deeply understand each other's thoughts.
A representative from the Jeonnam Student Council who participated in the event stated, "It was a valuable experience for youth, the future leaders of our generation, to confidently voice their opinions in a national public forum." They added, "We approached the discussion with a sense of responsibility representing the students of Jeonnam, and we will continue to do our best to ensure that our opinions translate into actual policy proposals."
