Eumseong County Scholarship Foundation Operates 'Visiting Mentoring' Program… Establishing a Virtuous Cycle Model Between Seniors and Juniors
The Eumseong County Scholarship Foundation is conducting the 'Visiting Alma Mater Mentoring' program for local high school students as part of its scholarship recipient community outreach initiative.
Started in 2016 and marking its 11th year, this program is a virtuous cycle initiative in which university students who have received scholarship support from the foundation act as mentors to share their study know-how, university life experiences, and college entrance exam strategies with their juniors at their alma maters.
This year's mentoring sessions will be held sequentially for 648 first-year students from four local high schools, starting with Dongseong High School on the 19th, followed by Eumseong High School on the 20th, Maegwae High School on the 25th, and Daegum High School on the 27th.
The event consists of two parts. In Part 1, an instructor from a professional educational institution took the stage to deliver a special lecture on topics such as self-directed learning methods and building proper interpersonal relationships. In Part 2, university student mentors shared practical study methods and their experiences with university life and college entrance exams, utilizing materials they created themselves.
One university student participating as a mentor expressed that it was meaningful to be able to share their gratitude for the scholarship benefits they had received with their juniors. They also conveyed their hope that the trial and error they experienced and their study tips would be of practical help to their juniors in setting their career paths.
Cho Byeong-ok, Chairman of the Eumseong County Scholarship Foundation, expressed his gratitude to the university student mentors for willingly coming together to support their juniors even during their vacation. He stated that he hopes this will serve as a foundation for seniors and juniors to share knowledge and grow together.
