Eumseong Education Library Recruits Students for Customized '26 Second Half Education Programs for Everyone from Preschoolers to Local Residents
For the second half of 2026, Eumseong Education Library is recruiting students on a first-come, first-served basis for generation-specific customized education programs that encompass preschoolers, elementary school students, parents, and local residents.
This second-half program is designed with a total of seven courses that carefully reflect the characteristics of each age group and the interests of the users. A key feature is that the curriculum goes beyond simple reading by incorporating diverse fields such as reading, humanities, English, drama, crafts, and artificial intelligence (AI), allowing participants to think, express themselves, and learn firsthand.
Major courses for elementary school students include "Thinking Smart Reading & Writing" (Grades 1-2), "Speaking Through Drama" (Grades 1-3), "English Journey in Picture Books" (Grades 4-6), and "Humanities Classics Together" (Grades 4-6). "Thinking Smart Reading & Writing" is a course designed to build a foundation in literacy by reading various texts in depth and attempting writing in various formats, such as letters and book reviews. "Speaking Through Drama" is an experiential class designed to help participants understand the characters and settings of classic works such as *The Tale of Lady Park* and *The Tale of Hong Gil-dong*, and to physically express the content of the books through role-playing activities.
"Jomul-jomul Picture Book Clay," aimed at young children, helps foster familiarity with books and cultivate creativity by having participants read picture books together and then create clay models of the characters and key themes.
There is also a diverse range of learning spaces for parents and adult residents. Programs include "Everyday Healing Crafts," covering glass art, resin art, and leather crafting; "AI Era Survival Kit II," which practices everything from the basic concepts of generative AI to its practical applications in daily life, such as writing and image/audio production; and "Slow Reading Picture Books," a course that encourages reflection on life through the metaphors and symbols found in picture book images.
The educational programs for the second half of the year will run from September 8 to November 28, according to the schedule for each course. Residents wishing to enroll can apply online through the program application menu on the Eumseong Education Library website. Baek Gyeong-mi, Director of the Eumseong Education Library, stated that the programs for the second half of the year were designed to allow people of all ages, from children to adults, to enjoy in-depth learning tailored to their interests by linking various fields such as humanities, theater, English, crafts, and AI with books as the central axis. She added that the library will continue to operate enriching programs so that local residents can learn and communicate with books at the library and find small joys in their daily lives.
The Eumseong Education Library plans to continue expanding its reading-linked educational infrastructure to promote reading culture in the local community and strengthen humanities literacy across all life stages.
