Yeosu-Suncheon 10·19 Trauma Healing Center Launches First Healing Rehabilitation Program… Psychological Recovery for Victims and Bereaved Families Begins in Earnest
Experiential Activities Using Aroma Oils Conducted… “Providing a Space for Empathy and Communication Between Victims and Bereaved Families”
(Break News Jeonnam Gwangju) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Yeosu-Suncheon 10·19 Trauma Healing Center has launched full-scale support for the psychological recovery of victims and bereaved families of the Yeosu-Suncheon Incident by holding its first healing rehabilitation program since its opening.
The Yeosu-Suncheon 10·19 Trauma Healing Center announced that it successfully operated the healing rehabilitation program (pictured), the first of its kind since the center opened last July, on the 13th.
This program consisted of experiential activities utilizing aroma oils. Participants took time to step away from the weight of daily life to reflect on themselves, naturally share their feelings, and communicate.
A total of 13 victims and bereaved family members participated in the program on this day. Participants directly experienced the scents of various aroma oils and engaged in activities utilizing them. In particular, a meaningful gathering was created where participants naturally shared their stories and experiences through the medium of subtle scents, allowing them to heal their wounded hearts.
One bereaved family member who participated in the program shared their thoughts, saying, “I usually don’t have many opportunities to reflect on myself, but through this program, I was able to talk comfortably and have a precious time to rest my mind through the aroma scents. I would like to continue participating in future programs as well.”
Starting with this first program, the Yeosu-Suncheon 10·19 Trauma Healing Center plans to continuously operate customized healing and rehabilitation programs utilizing various media, such as aromatherapy and gardening. Through this, the center intends to further expand opportunities for victims and their families to care for themselves and engage in mutual empathy and communication.
A center official stated, “We hope that this first program served as a warm time for the victims and their families to momentarily lay down their emotional burdens and care for themselves. We will continue to plan and operate diverse programs to create a sanctuary-like space where victims and their families can visit comfortably at any time and communicate with one another.”
