이번 협약은 한우 개량사업의 효율적 추진을 위한 협력체계 구축을 골자로 △우량암소 수정란 생산·공급 △유전체 분석 기반 개량체계 확립 △수란우 농가 관리 및 교육 △개량 데이터 축적과 성과 확산 등을 중심으로 추진된다.
협약에 따라 충청북도는 개량 정책 지원과 기술 자문을, 보은군은 유전자원센터 운영과 사업 총괄, 농가 교육 및 행정 지원을 맡는다. 보은한우개량작목회는 우량암소 선발과 현장 기술지도, 참여 농가 관리 등을 담당하며 현장 중심의 개량사업을 뒷받침할 예정이다.
