'Traveling Welfare Center' Jeonnam Happiness Bus Visits 1,000th Village... Commemorative Event Held in Sinri Village, Wando

A remarkable achievement 4 years and 9 months after its first operation in August 2021 - Provided over 254,000 instances of life-oriented welfare services to a cumulative total of over 31,000 people - 99.6% user satisfaction last year... Established as a successful model for field-oriented welfare policy

(Muan = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The 'Visiting Jeonnam Happiness Bus,' a representative field-oriented welfare initiative of Jeollanam-do, has finally reached its 1,000th village, bearing fruit.

Jeonnam Province announced that it held a meaningful commemorative event on the 14th at Sinri Village in Sinji-myeon, Wando-gun, to celebrate the 1,000th village visit of the 'Visiting Jeonnam Happiness Bus.'

The event was graced by the presence of a large number of village residents, including Kim Seung-hee, Head of the Social Welfare Division of Jeollanam-do; Lee Beom-woo, Deputy Mayor of Wando; and Shin Mi-kyung, President of the Jeollanam-do Social Service Agency. Along with the commemorative ceremony, an exhilarating celebratory performance by the Jeollanam-do Provincial Traditional Music Orchestra took place. The operation of a mobile laundry truck and customized services for residents, facilitated by volunteers, further enhanced the festive atmosphere.

In particular, a special event was organized for the village elders where framed photos of their grandchildren were personally crafted and presented, offering the residents unforgettable memories and touching moments.

The "Visiting Jeonnam Happiness Bus," which first launched in August 2021 and has served as a vital mode of transportation for the province's residents, achieved a remarkable milestone of its "1,000th village visit" after four years and nine months of operation.

In its early stages, the bus contributed on the front lines to preventing the spread of community infection by supporting COVID-19 screening tests. Since 2022, when quarantine measures were eased, the bus has been actively expanding customized welfare programs that reflect the needs of the residents. Currently, the Jeonnam Happiness Bus is traversing every corner of Jeonnam, equipped with a total of 28 types of tangible welfare services, ranging from health services such as basic health checkups, InBody tests, and blood pressure and blood sugar measurements, to hair and beauty services, massage, knife sharpening, kiosk training, nail art, and denture and glasses cleaning.

To date, the Jeonnam Happiness Bus has served a total of 31,566 residents, with the number of services provided reaching 254,016. This field-oriented administration has been proven by the numbers. In a satisfaction survey conducted last year targeting 745 service users, it received an overwhelming positive rating of 99.6%, firmly establishing itself as a true "star welfare project" of Jeonnam. Kim Seung-hee, Head of the Social Welfare Division of Jeollanam-do, emphasized, “The Jeonnam Happiness Bus goes beyond a simple transportation service; it is the core of a field-oriented welfare policy that proactively visits residents’ living environments to address their needs and alleviate their inconveniences.” She added, “We will continue to visit marginalized villages with limited access to transportation or welfare services to realize welfare that allows all residents to feel the warmth of the community.”
