Goesan County Promotes ‘Living Environment Improvement Support Project’ to Prevent Solitary Deaths… Establishing a Safe Housing Network
Goesan County is recruiting participants for the ‘Living Environment Improvement Support Project’ until September 18 to prevent safety accidents within the homes of households at risk of solitary deaths and to create a pleasant living environment.
This project will select a total of 15 individuals, including single-person households within the county who are exposed to the risk of solitary death. Final selected recipients will receive practical benefits for improving residential safety, up to a maximum of 500,000 won per person. Key support measures include small-scale, lifestyle-oriented improvements to the living environment, such as installing safety bars to prevent falls and installing non-slip tiles and pads.
The selection of recipients is conducted strictly through a screening process. Recipients of basic livelihood support, who receive livelihood, medical, or housing benefits, are given first priority; the near-poverty group and those identified as being in welfare blind spots are second priority; and other households at risk of solitary death deemed to require administrative support are applied as third priority. Residents wishing to receive support for the program should visit their local Eup or Myeon Administrative Welfare Center in person by the 18th of next month to complete the application process.
An official from Goesan County emphasized that for single-person households with weakened physical abilities or poor living conditions, indoor falls pose a high risk of potentially leading to serious deaths from loneliness. The official stated that the county will do its utmost to improve the quality of life for neighbors in welfare blind spots through this program and to further strengthen the welfare safety net of the entire community.
