경상남도경찰청(청장 김종철)은 25일 함안군 대산면 함안 경찰승전기념관에서 열린 ‘6·25전쟁 전사경찰관 추모행사’에 참석해 국가와 국민을 위해 헌신한 경찰 영령들을 추모했다.
이번 행사는 함안재향경우회 주관으로 6·25전쟁 발발 76주년을 맞아 마련됐으며, 전장에서 산화한 참전 경찰관과 호국영령의 희생정신을 되새기기 위해 진행됐다. 이날 행사에는 경남경찰청장과 대한민국재향경우회장, 경남동부보훈지청장, 지역 주민 등 250여 명이 참석해 엄숙한 분위기 속에서 추모의 뜻을 함께했다.
김종철 청장은 추도사를 통해 “나라가 위태로웠던 순간 조국을 지키기 위해 헌신한 선배 경찰들의 숭고한 정신을 이어받아 도민의 안전과 국가 번영을 위해 맡은 바 소임을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
