Taihan Cable & Solution announced on the 6th that it participated in the ‘2026 IEEE PES T&D’ held in Chicago, Illinois, from May 4 to 7. ‘IEEE PES T&D’ is a global power industry exhibition where power equipment companies, electric power authorities, and related organizations from around the world participate. It is the largest power infrastructure exhibition in the United States, showcasing the latest technologies and solutions related to power transmission and distribution.
At this exhibition, Taihan Cable & Solution showcased various strategic products, including HVDC and submarine cables, and solutions for replacing aging power grids. The exhibition was organized to focus on areas where demand is expanding in the North American market, with an emphasis on discovering tangible business opportunities.
The company particularly highlighted its HVDC technological capabilities. It showcased products such as the 525kV HVDC underground cable, including the 320kV class for which it has won orders in the U.S., and the 525kV HVDC submarine cable applicable to the domestic ‘West Coast Energy Expressway’ project, emphasizing its technological competitiveness for building next-generation power grids.
It also presented its investment status in submarine cables and its competitiveness in providing total solutions. The company shared its major track record of submarine cable projects won and executed both domestically and internationally, along with the production capacity and construction progress of its Submarine Cable Plant 2 in Dangjin, which is scheduled for completion in 2027. Furthermore, it introduced the ‘PALOS’, a Cable Laying Vessel (CLV) dedicated to offshore wind power active in the domestic market, and ‘Taihan Ocean Works’, a construction corporation specializing in submarine cables.
Solutions for replacing aging power grids were also displayed, drawing the interest of visitors. This solution is a technology that can increase transmission capacity by utilizing existing conduits, and high demand is anticipated in the U.S. market, where there is a large proportion of aging power infrastructure. Based on its experience in related projects and technological competitiveness, Taihan Cable & Solution conducted customized consultations for clients.
Vice Chairman Song Jong-min personally visited the exhibition site and, together with employees of Taihan Cable & Solution’s U.S. subsidiary, met with officials from major North American power authorities and business partners to discuss ongoing projects and future cooperation plans.
Vice Chairman Song stated, “The North American region is seeing rapid market growth as investments in power grids and the expansion of renewable energy are proceeding simultaneously,” and added, “Based on our experience and track record in the United States, we will continue to expand our achievements in key areas such as HVDC, submarine cables, and solutions for aging power grids.”
Prior to this exhibition, Taihan Cable & Solution also participated in the ‘ICC (Insulated Conductors Committee)’ conference, which was held for four days from April 26 to 29 in California, USA. The ICC is a leading conference related to power grids in the North American region.
Meanwhile, the industry forecasts that annual electricity demand in the U.S. will grow from approximately 4,100 TWh (terawatt-hours) in 2024 to exceed 5,000 TWh in 2030, driven by factors such as the advancement of AI and the expansion of data centers. Consequently, business opportunities related to the construction of new power grids and the replacement of aging ones are expected to expand.
