Kwak Noh-jung, President and Chief Executive Officer of SK hynix, is set to hold a series of meetings with Microsoft (MS) founder Bill Gates and MS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Satya Nadella, among others, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) memory.

According to industry sources on May 12, President Kwak is reported to be attending the “MS CEO Summit 2026,” held at Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington, on that day (local time). President Kwak had also attended the 2024 edition of the event.

The MS CEO Summit is a private event in which Microsoft invites CEOs of major global companies and industry experts to its headquarters to share technology trends and business strategies. It is known to be a private networking event open only to those who receive an invitation.

MS CEO Satya Nadella and the chief executives of major companies are expected to attend this year’s summit. An official dinner hosted by Microsoft founder Bill Gates is also scheduled toward the end of the event. The dinner, held at Bill Gates’ private residence, is reported to have been suspended for a period before being recently resumed, and President Kwak is said to be among those who may attend. Among domestic telecommunications and ICT service companies, LG Uplus CEO Hong Bum-sik is reported to be the only figure from that sector to have received an invitation to the event.

President Kwak’s latest move is interpreted as part of broader efforts to strengthen AI memory supply cooperation, centered on high-bandwidth memory (HBM). Microsoft is a major customer that receives DRAM and NAND flash memory from SK hynix. Most recently, Microsoft has been incorporating SK hynix’s fifth-generation HBM product, HBM3E, into its latest proprietary AI chip, the “Maia 200.”

Microsoft has installed the Maia 200 at its data center in Iowa and is reported to be planning additional deployments at a facility in Arizona. As investment in AI infrastructure continues to expand, demand for related memory products is likely to grow considerably.

Industry observers view this as a move by SK hynix to secure long-term supply stability with key customers and deepen next-generation product technology cooperation at a time when global memory supply has tightened amid the broader proliferation of AI.

President Kwak is also expected to broaden his network with CEOs of other global companies beyond Microsoft at the event. SK hynix is expanding its memory cooperation not only with NVIDIA and Microsoft but also with major big-tech firms including Google and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
