Dr. Lee Woo-chun, head of orthopedic surgery at Seonam Hospital, has shared advanced Korean surgical techniques with U.S. medical professionals.
According to the hospital on Wednesday, Dr. Lee visited Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City from last Wednesday to Friday local time, where he served as a speaker for the prestigious “Rose Lecture.” During his visit, he delivered two lectures on joint-preserving surgery for flatfoot deformities and ankle arthritis and also performed cadaver-based surgical demonstrations.

HSS has ranked No. 1 worldwide in orthopedics for 16 consecutive years in Newsweek’s annual rankings. The Rose Lecture is a distinguished program that invites globally renowned experts, and it is rare for physicians from outside the United States to be selected as speakers.
Dr. Lee, widely regarded as a leading authority in foot and ankle surgery in Korea, joined Seonam Hospital in April. He also recently delivered an invited lecture at the 2026 Korean Orthopaedic Association Spring Meeting on “the impact of knee alignment correction on the ankle joint.”
“It was a meaningful opportunity to share Korea’s joint-preserving and flatfoot surgical techniques at the world-renowned HSS,” Dr. Lee said. “I will continue to apply the expertise I developed at private university hospitals to the public healthcare setting in Seoul, striving to provide optimal diagnosis and treatment for patients.”
