Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Q1 net income up 4.3 pct to 635.2 bln won

SEOUL, May 14 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Co. on Thursday reported its first-quarter net profit of 635.2 billion won (US$426.1 million), up 4.3 percent from a year earlier.

The company said in a regulatory filing that it posted 861.1 billion won in operating profit for the quarter, compared with 792.4 billion won a year ago. Revenue rose 9.3 percent to 6.67 trillion won.

The earnings beat market expectations. The average estimate of net profit by analysts stood at 622.2 billion won, according to a survey by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency.
