South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. is expanding its Future Robotics Promotion Team, a key internal organization for its robotics business, as it pushes ahead with the commercialization of robots including humanoids.
According to industry sources on Friday, Samsung Electronics’ Device eXperience (DX) division posted internal job openings for the robotics team at the end of last month and is accepting applications through Friday.
Samsung Electronics has reportedly been actively promoting the role and responsibilities of the team through internal briefing sessions, signaling strong commitment to talent acquisition.
Samsung Electronics had already conducted career hiring and internal postings for the task force last year, steadily strengthening the organization.
The Future Robotics Promotion Team was established in late 2024 after Samsung Electronics became the largest shareholder of robotics firm Rainbow Robotics Inc., a robotics platform specialist company.
The company plays a central role in developing Samsung’s future robotics technologies, including humanoids.
The latest recruitment drive is viewed as part of Samsung Electronics’ efforts to materialize the robotics business roadmap it recently outlined during its first-quarter earnings conference call.
“Over the past year, under the leadership of Oh Jun-ho, head of the Future Robotics Promotion Team, we have achieved technological advances and established a foundation that allows us to catch up with industry leaders,” said Park Soon-cheol, executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) of Samsung Electronics, during the conference call.
“We are now securing the capability to directly develop customized parts optimized for our robots through the internalization of key robot components.”
The company plans to first develop manufacturing robots and then expand the accumulated technologies into the home and retail sectors, he added, noting that “to advance our technologies and accelerate their real-world applications, we will focus on securing proprietary technological capabilities, cooperate with competitive domestic companies, and pursue investments in or acquisitions of companies when necessary.”
Beyond robotics, Samsung Electronics is also placing top priority on securing talent to lead company-wide artificial intelligence (AI) transformation.
Through the latest internal job postings, it is recruiting AI transformation (AX) personnel across a wide range of fields, including AX strategy, AX project management, and AX development.
As part of a year-end organizational reshuffle last year, Samsung Electronics established a new AI Strategy Team overseeing AX and assigned AX teams to each business division.
More recently, the company has been stepping up companywide AX initiatives by providing AI capability enhancement training for executives.
