Samsung Epis Holdings, the holding company of biosimilar developer Samsung Bioepis, said Thursday it received an “AA” rating in the ESG assessment by MSCI, placing the company in the global index provider’s “leader” category.

The rating marks the company’s first global ESG evaluation since its spin-off listing in November 2025 and adds to its efforts to raise visibility among international investors. Samsung Epis Holdings said the assessment reflected both its disclosed management performance and the ESG activities of Samsung Bioepis.
MSCI, a New York-based provider of global stock indexes and investment information, has assessed listed companies’ environmental, social and governance performance since 1999 using a seven-tier scale ranging from AAA to CCC.
Among the three major evaluation categories -- Environment, Social and Governance -- Samsung Epis Holdings received particularly strong marks in talent management as well as product safety and quality management under the Social category.
“Achieving a leader rating in our first global ESG assessment was not a short-term accomplishment, but the result of systematically preparing from the early stages of the company with ESG management as a core value,” Kim Kyung-ah, president and CEO of Samsung Epis Holdings, said in a statement.
She added that the company plans to continue strengthening its ESG-based sustainable management system alongside patient-centered biopharmaceutical development.
Since officially launching as a biopharma investment holding company in November last year, Samsung Epis Holdings has been broadening its portfolio beyond biosimilars into areas such as novel biologic drugs and technology platforms.
The company was also added to the MSCI Korea Index in February through MSCI’s regular review process, a move that could help increase exposure to global institutional investors tracking Korean equities.
