Samsung Biologics announced on May 13 that it participated in the ‘Protein & Antibody Engineering Summit (PEGS) Boston,’ a global biopharmaceutical technology conference.

PEGS (Protein & Antibody Engineering Summit) Boston is the world’s largest conference for protein and antibody therapeutics. It is held annually in May in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, and this year’s event took place for five days from the 11th to the 15th (local time).

On May 12, Samsung Biologics held a luncheon presentation on the topic of ‘Advancing Oncology Drug Discovery through Samsung Organoids and Integrated CDO Capabilities.’ Kim Se-hee, Head of the Organoid Technology Group at the CDO Development Center, introduced strategies and know-how to support clients’ efficient anti-cancer drug development, focusing on Samsung Organoids and the developability assessment platform ‘DEVELOPICK®’.

Samsung Organoids, officially launched in June of last year, is a service that can pre-verify the efficacy of anti-cancer drug candidates using organoids that closely mimic patient tumors. It particularly focuses on screening anti-cancer drug candidates based on ‘patient-derived cancer organoids’.

DEVELOPICK®, first launched in October 2022, is a developability assessment platform that has been continuously improved to version 3.0. It can precisely analyze the characteristics of candidate materials with only a small amount of protein to derive the optimal candidate.

In addition, Samsung Biologics has established a total of nine CDO technology platforms to provide customized services. Through platforms including DEVELOPICK®, ▲the high-concentration formulation development platform S-HiCon™, ▲its proprietary cell line platform ‘S-CHOice®’, and ▲the bispecific antibody platform ‘S-DUAL®’, the company provides customized CDO services from early development to Investigational New Drug (IND) applications.

James Choi, Executive Vice President and Head of Sales Support at Samsung Biologics, stated, “Samsung Biologics has continuously strengthened its capabilities to maximize the potential for client success throughout the entire process, from early candidate discovery to clinical trials and commercialization.” He added, “We will continue to meet the diverse needs of our clients based on our differentiated platforms.”
