Crypto exchange OKX has added BlackRock’s tokenized U.S. Treasury fund, known as BUIDL, into its collateral system through a partnership with Standard Chartered. The move allows institutional and VIP clients to use the yield-bearing asset as trading collateral while keeping it securely held off-exchange.
The framework enables clients to trade on OKX while their assets remain in regulated custody with the bank, reflecting a growing push to integrate tokenized real-world assets into active financial use. BUIDL is treated similarly to dollar-based assets within the exchange’s margin system, while users retain ownership and yield benefits.
The development builds on an earlier collateral mirroring program between the companies and positions OKX in closer competition with exchanges like Binance.
The system is currently available through OKX’s Middle East operations, with expansion plans depending on regulatory environments and market demand.
