NAVER Cloud (CEO Yuwon Kim) recently announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (President KeeHoon Kang, hereinafter HUFS) to innovate AI-based education and research and to foster specialized AI talent.
This agreement was prepared to apply NAVER Cloud’s AI infrastructure to educational sites and to support the leap toward becoming an AI-centered university by constructing a future-oriented smart campus and cultivating AI specialists, leveraging HUFS’s educational capabilities.
To this end, NAVER Cloud will provide GPUs optimized for the university research environment based on its AI infrastructure and solutions and build AI administrative and learning services based on HyperCLOVA X. Additionally, the company plans to introduce multilingual administrative services by combining HUFS’s linguistic capabilities with its own AI solutions to support the adoption of AI in the university’s education and research environments.
Furthermore, the two organizations will move forward with implementing a future-oriented smart campus that integrates online and offline environments. They plan to advance access and payment systems using facial recognition technology and create a smart administrative and learning environment based on NAVER Works, the company’s AI collaboration platform.
Both institutions will also cooperate on fostering AI talent. They intend to expand recruitment links and joint research by linking NAVER Cloud Academy and NAVER Cloud Platform training courses with the university’s regular curriculum, providing internship opportunities, hosting job fairs, and supporting technical mentoring.
Yuwon Kim, CEO of NAVER Cloud, stated, “Through this cooperation, we expect to create an innovative ecosystem where AI technology is utilized in actual education and research sites. We will support HUFS so that it can become a testbed for innovation based on AI and cloud, much like NAVER’s second headquarters, 1784.”
KeeHoon Kang, President of HUFS, remarked, “The cooperation with NAVER Cloud will be an important starting point for creating an AI-based smart campus and a future-oriented education and research environment together. I look forward to this developing into an exemplary industry-academic cooperation model that creates new value in various fields by combining global knowledge based on language, region, and humanities with AI technology.”
