LG Electronics has been recognized as a company that has achieved innovation in accessibility for people with disabilities.
LG Electronics announced on May 20 that it has been included in the Forbes Accessibility 200, a list of 200 global leaders in accessibility innovation selected by Forbes, the U.S. business magazine. Forbes has been selecting and announcing companies, organizations, and individuals that have demonstrated innovation in improving accessibility for people with disabilities since last year.
LG Electronics continues to pursue various efforts to enhance product and service accessibility under its global ESG vision of Better Life for All, guided by its Design for All strategy.
Among its representative products is a kiosk first unveiled earlier this year at CSUN AT 2026, the world’s largest accessibility conference. The product integrates accessibility features including a Braille panel, sign language guidance, and a screen reader to improve ease of use for customers with disabilities. Wheelchair users and shorter customers can also adjust the height of the kiosk by pressing a button.
The AI home hub LG ThinQ ON converses with customers, learns and predicts their living patterns, and optimally controls home appliances and IoT devices in the home. IoT sensors that work in conjunction with ThinQ ON to enable door-open notifications, motion detection, and power monitoring provide alerts through light linked to lighting fixtures instead of sound, so that customers with hearing impairments can also use them conveniently.
The LG Comfort Kit is a line of accessories designed to help customers use home appliances more conveniently. It consists of a total of 18 items, including the Easy Handle (door), which helps users open and close dishwasher doors with ease; the Easy Detergent Cup, which clearly displays the detergent compartment and the correct amount to be added; and the Easy Tray (drip tray), which guides users to place a cup precisely at the water outlet of a water purifier. The kit was developed with a wide range of customer experiences in mind, including those of customers with disabilities, elderly customers, and customers with young children.
Efforts to improve service accessibility also continue. In Korea, LG Electronics is carrying out accessibility improvement activities at customer touchpoints through services such as the Best Companion Care Service, in which a dedicated manager provides one-on-one assistance from the parking lot to the store and through product trials for customers with mobility difficulties, as well as a dedicated consultation service for customers who use sign language.
In addition, LG Electronics carries out a variety of activities to improve accessibility for customers. A representative example is the Home Appliance School One-Day Class, which uses easy-to-read books with explanations and illustrations tailored to the perspective of children and teenagers, along with related activities, to teach safe home appliance usage. The easy-to-read books received recognition for design excellence in promoting social inclusivity and sustainability after winning an award at the iF Design Award 2026, one of the world’s top three design awards.
LG Electronics also operates Bold Move, a community dedicated to improving accessibility for customers with disabilities and elderly customers. It is a platform where customers share inconveniences they have experienced while using LG Electronics’ home appliances and services and exchange ideas for improving accessibility. The LG Comfort Kit also went through a process in which community participants directly tested products and proposed improvements.
