LG CNS announced on April 1 that it has established a new dedicated organization to support companies in establishing and executing their robot adoption strategies. This move is part of its efforts to expand its Robot Transformation (RX) business.
LG CNS has launched the ‘RX Innovation Lab’ to provide customized robot adoption consulting. It is an organization that supports the entire RX adoption process, from deriving robot utilization plans tailored to a company’s work environment and objectives, to redesigning workflows and reviewing productivity through Proof of Concept (PoC).
Through this organization, LG CNS provides a three-stage program connecting Insight, Design, and Proof to help clients establish optimal robot transformation plans.
In the Insight stage, the company analyzes a client’s industry characteristics, on-site environment, and business processes to identify areas for robot adoption. In the Design stage, it selects optimal robot solutions such as Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) and humanoids, and redesigns the workflow to reflect the division of roles between humans and robots, as well as safety and quality standards.
Finally, in the Proof stage, the company explained that it trains robots with worker behavior data, and systematically reviews the feasibility of on-site application, productivity, safety, and operational efficiency through robot system implementation and PoC.
LG CNS particularly emphasized that it promotes RX by redesigning the entire workflow, going beyond simple automation of individual processes. For example, in the case of a logistics company, it analyzes the entire process from product receiving to storage, sorting, picking, packaging, and shipping to identify sections where robot application would be highly effective. It then designs the optimal process sequence and work division by converting data on movement paths, processing times, and human collaboration sections.
With the establishment of this new organization, LG CNS has secured a comprehensive innovation support lineup that encompasses digital technology, AI, and robots. The company has previously operated the ‘Innovation Studio’ to support digital transformation and the ‘Gen AI Studio’ to support business innovation through generative AI, having conducted approximately 140 innovation programs for its clients.
LG CNS is also intensively strengthening its Physical AI technology capabilities, which form the foundation of RX. To advance its industry-specific Robot Foundation Model (RFM), it has expanded partnerships with companies such as ‘Skilled AI,’ a U.S.-based robot brain developer, and ‘Config,’ a company specializing in RFM for humanoid dual-arm control.
Furthermore, after developing its own integrated operation platform for controlling, managing, and operating heterogeneous robots, the company made a strategic investment this year in ‘Dexmate,’ a U.S. humanoid robot company, thereby securing hardware design capabilities.
Based on this, LG CNS stated that it plans to provide a full-stack RX service that combines the core elements of RX: RFM, platform, and hardware.
