South Korea’s Hanwha Power Corp. announced on Thursday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Canadian energy infrastructure company Pembina Pipeline Corp. to collaborate on eco-friendly power generation projects.
The partnership is also intended to support Hanwha Ocean Co.’s bid for the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project (CPSP).
Pembina Pipeline, headquartered in Alberta, is a major North American energy company operating extensive pipeline and gas infrastructure assets.
Under the agreement, Hanwha Power will explore applying waste heat recovery power generation systems to Pembina’s pipeline compressor stations and gas infrastructure facilities.
Hanwha Power’s waste heat recovery power generation system is a next-generation technology that utilizes carbon dioxide in a supercritical state, which possesses the properties of both liquid and gas simultaneously.
“This cooperation marks a meaningful starting point for expanding our eco-friendly energy solutions business in the Canadian market,” said Michael Sicker, head of Hanwha Power America. “By combining the technologies of both companies, we will contribute not only to mutual growth with local industries but also to the creation of long-term business value.”
“Our partnership with Hanwha will create new opportunities to deliver differentiated value to our customers and stakeholders,” added Chris Rousch, senior vice president of Pembina.
