On April 23, Hana Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen cooperation on infrastructure projects in Vietnam and abroad during the ‘Korea-Vietnam Business Forum’ held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Additionally, on the same day, Hana Bank, along with its subsidiary GLN, held an event at the Fairmont Hotel in Hanoi to commemorate the launch of the ‘Cross-border QR Payment Service’ in partnership with the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS) and BIDV.

Hana Bank signed a “tripartite MOU for cooperation on infrastructure projects in Vietnam and abroad” with the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND).

This agreement was signed at the ‘Korea-Vietnam Business Forum,’ held on the occasion of a state visit. It was pursued to establish a cooperative relationship with BIDV, Vietnam’s largest bank by asset size and one of its four major state-owned banks, and to create a collaborative system linking investment development with finance.

Through this MOU, Hana Bank agreed to build strategic partnerships in the infrastructure, energy, urban development, and green sectors, and to jointly discover high-quality investment project opportunities that can promote the entry of Korean companies.

On the same day, Hana Bank, through a partnership with its subsidiary GLN, BIDV, and the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS), officially launched a ‘QR Payment Service’ for Korean tourists visiting Vietnam.

The ‘QR Payment Service,’ launched in partnership with NAPAS, is a project being promoted under the official approval of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), with Hana Bank participating as the sole Settlement Bank among Korean financial institutions.

Furthermore, GLN will be responsible for payment operations directly linked to Vietnam’s national QR payment network and will lead the establishment of the local QR payment service alongside Hana Bank.

GLN’s new ‘QR Payment Service’ in Vietnam is available on major apps such as Hana Bank, Hana Card, Hana Money, Toss, and Purple GLN, and the service is scheduled to be expanded to Naver Pay and other domestic banks in the future.

To commemorate the service launch, Hana Bank and GLN will hold an event offering a 5% cashback for QR payments at Lotte Mart and King Kong Mart locations in Vietnam until May 31.

Lee Ho-seong, President of Hana Bank, stated, “This agreement and service launch will be an opportunity to create tangible value by combining Vietnam’s growth potential with Hana Bank’s global financial capabilities.”
