Conscripts advised to participate in early voting for June local elections

SEOUL, May 8 (Yonhap) -- The military manpower agency said Friday it has advised those who are scheduled to enter the compulsory military service before the June 3 local elections to participate in early voting.

The Military Manpower Administration said it has sent a notice to about 13,000 conscripts to cast ballots during the May 29-30 early voting of the upcoming elections.

For some 11,000 personnel to be drafted from May 18-28, the agency said it has notified them of how to receive election campaign pamphlets at military units for early voting.

Separately, it advised about 2,000 people who are scheduled to enlist on June 1-2 to participate in early voting before joining the military service.

The agency urged conscripts to actively exercise their right to vote through early voting.
