Bithumb
Bithumb announced Thursday that it signed a memorandum of understanding with SSI Digital, a subsidiary of Vietnam’s largest securities company SSI Securities, to cooperate on establishing and operating a virtual asset exchange in the country.
The agreement, signed earlier this year in Hanoi, could eventually include a strategic equity investment by Bithumb in an SSI Digital-related entity, subject to regulatory approval.
The partnership positions Bithumb to participate in Vietnam’s pilot program for licensed domestic crypto exchanges, creating a potential entry point into one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing digital asset markets.
Vietnam introduced a five-year crypto pilot framework in 2025 requiring operators to maintain at least 10 trillion dong, or about $380 million, in charter capital while limiting foreign ownership to 49%.
Bithumb and SSI Digital said they plan to collaborate on exchange technology, wallet and custody systems, cybersecurity, regulatory support and institutional business development.
