[June 3 Local Elections] Cho Kuk Innovation Party Gwangju City Chapter Integrated City Council Candidate Team: “We Will Reclaim the ‘Young DJ Spirit’ of Honam Politics”

Press conference held at Gwangju City Council on the 26th… Pledged to implement ‘Solution Politics’ - Criticizing one-party monopoly, announced three key tasks suitable for the era of administrative integration

(Gwangju = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Cho Kuk Innovation Party Gwangju City Chapter Integrated City Council Candidate Team has embarked on full-scale campaigns, declaring reform for Honam politics and citizen-centered ‘Solution Politics.’

The Cho Kuk Innovation Party Gwangju City Chapter Integrated City Council Candidate Team held a press conference at the Gwangju City Council on the 26th and expressed their aspirations, stating, “The Cho Kuk Innovation Party will reclaim the ‘Young DJ Spirit’ of Honam politics and implement ‘Solution Politics’ where citizen sovereignty is alive.”

At the press conference held on this day, Kim Sang-hoon and Seon Dong-ju, candidates for the 1st and 2nd electoral districts of Buk-gu, along with Seo Young-mi, Jang Seong-hae, and Kim Bo-ram, candidates for the metropolitan proportional representation system, attended to announce the three core tasks of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party's integrated city council.

The candidate group asserted, "Gwangju and Jeonnam are our roots and our future," adding, "However, Honam politics has been trapped in a one-party monopoly structure and has lost its momentum for innovation." They further pointed out, "As one party monopolizes both the council and the administration, checks and balances have disappeared, leaving only complacency." They raised their voices, stating, "We must overhaul outdated practices such as 'sharing positions,' 'protecting one's own,' and 'the administration's disregard for the council' to be reborn as a council befitting the era of administrative integration."

To this end, the candidate group emphasized, first and foremost, that they would "lead a mutually beneficial integration and usher in an era of citizen sovereignty." They announced plans to operate a "Joint Task Force for Integration Promotion" to resolve potential conflicts that may arise during the administrative integration process. Along with this, they pledged to take the lead in significantly strengthening the participatory budgeting system and institutionalizing consensus-based administrative bodies to realize citizen sovereignty.

Secondly, they cited the establishment of balanced development measures to bridge the gap between the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions. The candidate group publicly declared that they would actively foster the local renewable energy industry and establish a "resident profit-sharing system" to share the resulting profits with residents.

Finally, the candidate group proposed guaranteeing citizens' social rights and completing a customized support system tailored to each stage of life. Stating that "changes tangible to citizens are the true essence that 'politics of daily life' should aim for," the group put concrete policies for people's livelihoods at the forefront.

In particular, they explained, "We will meticulously design policies necessary for every stage of a citizen's life, ranging from the 'Gwangju-style Gap Year' to help young people enter society, to resolving care gaps for the 30-40 generation, supporting career changes for the 40-50 generation, and providing high-quality jobs for seniors aged 60 to 65." He also added, “We will take responsibility for a better life that citizens can experience by expanding the metropolitan transportation network to guarantee mobility rights and introducing a practical integrated transportation pass.”
