Korea National University of Transportation Hosts ‘26 Future e-Mobility Edu-eum Festival’ for Students with Special Needs
Korea National University of Transportation successfully held the 2026 Future e-Mobility Edu-eum Festival at its Chungju Campus to enhance the AI digital capabilities and future mobility utilization skills of students with special needs. This event was jointly hosted and organized by the AI Edutech Convergence Education Center, the Chungbuk Edutech Soft Lab, and the Chungcheongbuk-do Office of Education. Forty students from special schools and special classes in the Chungbuk region competed after advancing to the main and final rounds following preliminary rounds. In addition, university student supporters, the Chungju City School Parents Association, and volunteers participated, adding significance to the festival.
The event proceeded richly, beginning with a welcoming address, followed by a Harmony Drone Performance, an e-Mobility Triathlon linking drones, autonomous driving, and UAM, experiences involving AI robots, drones, autonomous driving, IoT, and the Metabus, and finally, an awards ceremony. In particular, the core program, the e-mobility triathlon, was conducted by integrating drone piloting, autonomous driving missions, and UAM simulators. The UAM finals were broadcast live to the gymnasium via a real-time multi-channel platform, receiving an enthusiastic response from the audience.
Participating students naturally acquired problem-solving skills utilizing AI and future mobility technologies while performing various missions tailored to their school level and disability type. The honor of being crowned the winner of this competition, the AI Ironman, went to Moon Jun-hyeok, a second-year middle school student at Chungju Seongsim School.
A principal from a special education school who attended the event shared his thoughts, stating that the experience itself was highly meaningful as students participated step-by-step through the preliminary, main, and final rounds to learn and utilize AI technology. He expressed his hope that such educational festivals would continue in the future. Kim Hye-young, President of the Chungju School Parents Association, also noted that everyone held their breath in cheering when the students were focused on the competition and rejoiced at the moment of completion, adding that she hoped such a meaningful program would be expanded to more students in Chungbuk. Kim In-sook, Director of the AI Edutech Convergence Education Center, explained that the e-mobility triathlon is a project in which students with special educational needs utilize AI edutech to overcome their own limitations and challenge the future. She further emphasized that the university will continue to build a globally expanding AI digital inclusive education platform to ensure that the experience of completing the race leads to confidence and self-efficacy.
Meanwhile, Korea National University of Transportation plans to use this festival as an opportunity to actively promote the global expansion of AI digital inclusive education. In October, the university intends to host the 2026 Global Edu-eum Festival in Hanoi, Vietnam, expanding it into an international program in which students with special educational needs from both Korea and Vietnam can participate together.
