Marking the second month of the implementation of the Student-Tailored Integrated Support Act, a forum was held to explore the current status of its application in the field, challenges, and cooperation strategies among education offices, local governments, and schools.
The Daegu Association of School Social Workers (President Lee Soon-hee) held the "2026 School Social Work Forum" on the afternoon of the 30th at the Daegu Citizens Media Center under the theme, "Student-Tailored Integrated Support: Just Another Project or the Beginning of Change?"
This forum was organized to assess the status of the Student-Tailored Integrated Support Act, which was fully implemented last March, and to discuss future integrated support models.
The Student-Tailored Integrated Support system is a program that provides comprehensive diagnosis and support to students facing various difficulties related to learning, emotions, psychology, family, and economics.
Points were repeatedly raised in the field that, given the increasing number of students in crisis, there is an urgent need to strengthen the role of school social workers and establish an effective case management system. Teachers, social counselors, educational social workers, local government case managers, and heads of youth counseling centers attended the forum that day to share various case studies based on their actual work experiences.
Attendees unanimously pointed out administrative and financial limitations in the operation of the system and emphasized in unison the need to establish a linkage system between agencies.
Lee Soon-hee, President of the Daegu School Social Workers Association, stated, "We will strive to ensure that the law does not merely increase workloads but leads to tangible changes by effectively reflecting the voices of those in the field," adding, "It is crucial to establish a support system where schools and the local community work together."
