[Break News Gyeonggi South = Pyeongtaek Reporter Lee Hyun-jun] Pyeongtaek City will officially launch the 2026 Pyeongtaek Citizens' Future University customized lifelong education program for the disabled starting this coming May, aiming to guarantee their right to learn and support their integration into the local community.

This initiative was planned under the slogan "A Voyage of Learning Where Disability Is Not a Barrier," designed to provide customized educational opportunities that reflect the specific types and characteristics of disabilities.

The city initially planned to operate 16 courses, but confirmed high interest by receiving a total of 19 applications through citizen-proposed and institution-linked open calls. Accordingly, the city evaluated the suitability and feasibility of the courses based on scoring criteria to ultimately select substantial educational programs. The program will run for four months, from May to August, consisting of a total of eight sessions held twice a week.

In particular, this education significantly enhances accessibility by expanding home-visit education for the disabled who have difficulty with mobility. The curriculum is broadly structured, ranging from practical topics such as basic vocational skills, digital usage, and independent living to health, hobbies, and emotional support programs. Here, digital education focuses on strengthening information literacy skills essential for daily life, such as utilizing kiosks and smartphones.

Through this education, people with disabilities can be provided with fair educational opportunities. Furthermore, the curriculum is designed to facilitate adaptation to society.
