①

Customer-centric

–

“

‘Wear the single lens’.

②

Company-wide View

– ‘

③

Integrity

–

‘

’

보다

‘

’

④

Challenge and Commit

–

⑤

Super Fast

–

‘

Customer-centric, Company-wide View, Integrity, Challenge and Commit, Super Fast.

[Culture Slogan Visit] RAPPORT LABS – “Seeing the World Through the Lens of Customers”

RAPPORT LABS expanded its scope into the food category by absorbing the food commerce platform Paldogam in 2024, and this year, it launched its first private brand cosmetic product, 'Neck Cream,' embarking on an experiment in direct planning and production within the beauty sector. Ultimately, it envisions becoming a lifestyle shop for stylish adults and an everyday infrastructure for those in their 40s and 50s, encompassing even non-shopping areas such as travel, performances, gifts, and reservations.

RAPPORT LABS has a unique system that has been in place since the company's inception: the "Company-wide Winter Break." Every year in February, the entire company comes to a halt for about two weeks, coinciding with the Lunar New Year holidays. Since everyone has agreed to take time off together, employees can properly refresh themselves without feeling pressured. Befitting a company that best understands female customers in their 40s and 50s, support for childbirth and childcare is also robust. From a childbirth allowance of 10 million won and parental leave that can be taken for up to two years—exceeding legal limits—to extended reduced working hours for childcare, these are systems designed for employees who wish to continue working while balancing childbirth or childcare.

The organization, which had around 100 members in early 2022, reached 300 in just over three years. And this January, under the recruitment concept of 'Market Reset,' they are hiring 50 people on a large scale. We asked about this large-scale recruitment.

Q. What kind of talent is RAPPORT LABS looking for

?

We are looking for talent who are open to change and capable of working in new ways, possessing both a willingness to grow and the maturity to collaborate.

This leader cited three characteristics for the ideal talent at RAPPORT LABS.

First, talent who proactively defines and solves problems. This refers not to someone who simply does what they are told, but to someone who discovers problems on their own and proposes better solutions.

Second, talent who executes quickly and learns. This refers to someone who fits well into an organizational culture that grows through feedback loops rather than striving for perfect preparation.

Third, talent with a perspective that views both the team and the company as a whole. This is someone who does not confine themselves to their own role but knows how to collaborate within the overall direction and context of the company.

Q. What does the recruitment brand

'

Market Reset

'

mean

?

"Now that AI is shaking up the entire market, this is an expression of our determination to reshape the landscape of the 40-50 age group market as well. With the introduction of AI into the organization, we must ultimately establish methodologies in an uncertain market that no one has ever ventured into before and grow the organization upon them. We named it 'Market Reset' to embody the meaning of resetting the market landscape."

Q.

I understand that you are reorganizing the organization around

AI

.

How far along is the process

?

“RAPPORT LABS is restructuring the company itself around AI. Last year, we established a five-person AX team, which is serving as the ‘transformation axis’ to change the very way we work. When we first introduced it last year, we started by encouraging the use of AI tools. We enabled the entire organization to utilize AI. We are now testing which aspects of business processes can be transformed by AI and disseminating verified methods throughout the organization. We have also incorporated AI utilization into our evaluation criteria. Currently, we are considering the stage of redesigning the organization’s working methods to be AI-centric.”

As a customer again

On the 7th, RAPPORT LABS held a town hall meeting and announced new core values. 'Customer-centricity,' which was not present before, was newly included, and it was even placed as the first principle. I was curious about the background behind placing 'customer-centricity' at the forefront of the new core values once again.

“I believe core values are keywords that structure who we want to work with and how we need to work for our organization to grow. Consequently, our way of working changes according to the organization's stage of growth. The values required when the company is small are different from the values needed at each stage.”

As the organization rapidly grew from just over 100 members to more than 300, the criteria for decision-making gradually shifted inward. In the early days of the startup, everyone who went out to meet customers was confined to a single office; however, as the organization divided into departments and job titles increased, moments naturally arose where decisions were made relying on internal experience, intuition, and past successful methods. In departmental meetings, past success stories and internal data were cited first, while the habit of directly meeting and observing customers faded. We began to see instances where internal logic took precedence over the actual context in which the customer faced the situation. The identity of "a company that started from the customer," which RAPPORT LABS had always taken pride in, began to become blurred.

RAPPORT LABS diagnosed this not as a "problem of individual attitude," but as a "structural issue" where customer-centricity had not been sufficiently internalized within the system and way of working. In essence, operational sophistication failed to keep pace with the speed of the company's growth. This critical awareness led directly to the recent overhaul of core values. It was a declaration to redesign the very way of working, placing customer focus back at the forefront so that all decision-making originates from it. Let's take a look at the five newly revamped values of RAPPORT LABS one by one.

①

Customer-centric

–

“

Let’s see the world through the same lens

”

We create experiences that exceed customer expectations through a customer-centric mindset.

'Wear the single lens.' It means that the entire organization should view the world through the single lens of the 'customer.' The perspective is that customers in their 40s and 50s already possess sufficient discernment and taste, and we must create even better experiences for them.

One day, the data team discovered an interesting fact: 65% of Queenit users had their smartphone font sizes set larger than the default. However, the Queenit app itself was failing to reflect this setting. Although customers had never explicitly said that the text was too small, they were already sending a signal through their "behavior" of phone settings. We immediately formed a Text Accessibility Task Force. We created a proprietary system that adjusts in five levels based on the customer's phone settings, striking a balance by enlarging small text while keeping large text less prominent. Since its implementation in February of this year, overall app metrics—such as transaction volume per user, click-through rates, and wishlists—have risen steadily. It was a decision made possible because we truly considered the customer.

A similar situation occurred in customer service. For a long time, there was a perception within the company that "customers in their 40s and 50s feel more comfortable on the phone." However, actual research revealed that many customers initially tried chat but switched to phone calls after becoming frustrated by identity verification procedures and slow responses. The team eliminated the identity verification process and automated the initial response using AI. As a result, for the first time since the service launched, chat support surpassed phone support. What RAPPORT LABS calls "customer-centric" is not about vaguely imagining the customer, but about finding the answer in their actual behavior.

②

Company-wide View

– '

Interior 100'

We work with a corporate vision.

The faster a startup grows, the easier it is to get trapped in 'team-level optimization.' Company-wide View is a value that encourages us to think first about 'how this work impacts the entire company,' going beyond our own team's goals. That is why RAPPORT LABS has a culture called

'Internal 100.'

Except for personal information, everything from Slack to town halls is 100% transparent.

There was an incident that perfectly illustrated how this value works. Product designers at RAPPORT LABS had to request assistance from developers every time they wanted to change a single line of text or color. It meant waiting two days for a task that should have taken five minutes. During a design team meeting, someone suggested, "Couldn't we fix the code ourselves?" and a designer volunteered. This discussion didn't stay within the design team; it was posted directly to a public Slack channel. What was interesting was the development team's reaction to the news. "That’s a great idea, but we’ll set up the environment." One developer configured a dedicated workspace for the designer, and others began teaching them how to use code editing tools during lunch breaks. This wasn't even on anyone's KPIs. It wouldn't have happened if that single remark had remained confined to the design team's meeting room. The results were beneficial for both sides. Designers were able to apply their ideas on the spot, and the development team was freed from trivial modification requests, securing time to focus on core tasks. It wasn't just the performance of one team; the speed and efficiency of the entire company increased simultaneously.

③

Integrity

–

Rather than

‘

truthfully

’

,

‘

as it is

’

We always act truthfully.

As a company grows, decision-making becomes more complex and conflicts increase. At RAPPORT LABS, honesty, transparency, and consistency are paramount. Applying the same standards to everyone without relying on personal connections or informal information flows, and sharing mistakes or problems openly without hiding them—these are easy to say. The truly difficult part is whether these principles work even in situations that are disadvantageous to oneself.

At RAPPORT LABS, we manage performance using OKRs, and there was an instance where a team member's OKR was measured higher than it actually was due to an error in the calculation metrics. It was a situation where leaving it as is would result in a favorable evaluation, but revealing the mistake would inevitably lower their rating. As soon as this member recognized the problem, they shared it with the team immediately. They explained how the error was discovered, why it was identified late, and even outlined measures to prevent recurrence. What is interesting is what happened afterward. Far from damaging their evaluation, this attitude strengthened the trust of their colleagues. At RAPPORT LABS, integrity is not a special kind of courage, but simply a way of working.

④

Challenge and Commit

–

Clash fiercely

, and

once decided, run together

We engage in intense discussions and are dedicated to leading agreed-upon decisions to success.

This value has two axes. 'Challenge' involves fiercely clashing diverse opinions and perspectives to make better decisions, while 'Commit' means dedicating oneself to the success of a decision once it has been reached through sufficient discussion, even if it differs from one's original thoughts. When emphasizing core values, it is easy to drift toward the idea of "getting along, making concessions, and collaborating." RAPPORT LABS, however, took a different approach.

There was a recent incident that perfectly illustrated this value. When the development of a new feature, which was being carried out by mutual agreement between teams, was delayed, the business manager took the initiative to openly share the progress and the reasons for the delay without hiding anything, and requested a retrospective. The development team participated in the retrospective even after work hours, admitting their mistakes and suggesting solutions, while other team members also contributed ideas. No one blamed each other. Engaging in fierce discussion, quickly acknowledging mistakes, reaching an agreement, and then putting it into action—this is how RAPPORT LABS handles conflict.

⑤

Super Fast

–

'

Not putting off until tomorrow what can be done today

'

is fundamental

We always demonstrate speed that exceeds expectations.

Startups compete amidst limited resources and high uncertainty. At RAPPORT LABS, "Super Fast" is not merely a competition of speed, but a value designed to enable rapid organizational growth by shortening learning cycles through swift execution. The fundamental principle is "not putting off until tomorrow what can be done today," and the level we aim for is "doing today what seems like it could be done tomorrow." Just hearing about it leaves me breathless.

There was a time immediately after a major promotion where visitor numbers remained steady but the purchase conversion rate dropped. We were in a situation where we needed to boost transaction volume within four days. Instead of a blanket coupon, the person in charge designed a tiered coupon strategy that segmented customer groups based on membership tier, activity level, and recent purchase history. They also prepared A/B testing, real-time weekend monitoring, and a plan for immediate shutdown in case of risk. They completed this entire process in just three days following the decision.

RAPPORT LABS' core values are a living language that grows with the organization. 'Market Reset' aims to reshape the landscape of the 40-50 age group market. The tools to do so are these five values: Customer-centric, Company-wide View, Integrity, Challenge and Commit, and Super Fast. Among them, 'Customer-centric,' newly placed at the
