Changwon Special City Achieves $13.42 Million in Contracts at Indonesian General Exhibition
10 Promising Local Export Companies Participate… 13 MOUs Signed
Changwon Special City has set out to overcome the global trade crisis by creating export breakthroughs for local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Indonesian market, the largest economy in ASEAN.
Changwon City announced on the 26th that it successfully operated a "Changwon City Joint Pavilion" at the "Indonesia General Exhibition (INAPA 2026)," held in Jakarta, Indonesia, for three days from the 20th to the 22nd, participating alongside 10 promising local export companies.
"INAPA 2026" is Indonesia's representative industrial exhibition, encompassing the entire spectrum of machinery, traditional manufacturing, and high-tech industries, including automotive parts, electric vehicles (EVs) and charging infrastructure, motorcycle parts, maintenance equipment, electronic and IT systems, and logistics and mobility. Ten promising small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from Changwon City’s core industrial sectors—machinery, automotive parts, and precision automation equipment—participated in this joint pavilion to target the local market.
During the exhibition, Changwon City continuously operated one-on-one customized export consultation sessions with local buyers. Through this, the city achieved $30.56 million in export consultations and $13.42 million in contract negotiations, while also signing a total of 13 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) on-site.
These achievements are attributed to the effectiveness of Changwon City’s thorough pre-exhibition marketing support system. Prior to the exhibition opening, the city supported the identification of buyers tailored to each participating company and facilitated preliminary online video consultations for approximately one month, from April 23 to May 15. During this process, the city adopted an "online-offline hybrid" strategy by directly inviting 59 local companies verified as valid buyers to the joint pavilion to facilitate on-site meetings involving actual products.
Changwon City also devoted significant effort to "building a global network" at the local government level. During the exhibition, a series of meetings were held with key local policy and economic institutions, including the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, the South Jakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), and the Indonesian Telecommunications Corporation, to engage in in-depth discussions on establishing high-level infrastructure and expanding industrial and technological cooperation.
Jo Haeng-ja, Head of the Investment Attraction Team, assessed that "difficulties faced by local export companies are increasing as uncertainty in the global trade environment deepens due to recent geopolitical risks, wars, and tariff barriers." She emphasized, "As Indonesia, the largest market in ASEAN, holds significant growth potential for Changwon companies possessing excellent technological capabilities, we will actively support the global expansion of local companies through diverse, customized export support programs."
