Jinju City Preemptively Responds to Second Phase of Public Institution Relocation… Hosts Meeting of Attraction Committee
Launching All-Out Effort to Attract Public Institutions, Including Citywide Signature Campaigns
On the 20th, Jinju City held a meeting of the Public Institution Attraction Committee at City Hall to discuss the second phase of public institution relocation, attracting the integrated headquarters of power generation companies, and response measures regarding the reorganization of LH (Korea Land and Housing Corporation).
During the meeting, a consensus was formed that the second phase of public institution relocation is a core policy that will determine balanced national development and the region's future competitiveness. Opinions were also raised that the rationale for attracting the institutions and response strategies must be systematically prepared even before the government's official announcement.
Regarding the attraction of the integrated headquarters of power generation companies, committee members emphasized that Jinju is the optimal location equipped with competitiveness, citing its central position in the South Central region connecting Samcheonpo, Hadong, and Yeosu, connectivity with the South Coast offshore wind and renewable energy industries, and the utilization of the existing Korea Southern Power (KOSPO) office building.
**Jinju City Holds Meeting of Attraction Committee** They also discussed promotion strategies for attracting the integrated headquarters of public power generation enterprises and measures to expand city-wide consensus. Based on the bid statement released on the 9th, they agreed to continue engaging with the government and relevant agencies.
In particular, regarding the functional reorganization of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), they expressed deep concern over the possibility of LH—a key institution of the Innovation City—being split and relocated. They agreed that they must respond strongly, together with the local community, to oppose the functional separation and ensure the headquarters remains in Jinju.
The co-chairs stated, "The second phase of public institution relocation and the future of the Innovation City stand at a critical turning point, so we will prepare thoroughly together with the citizens." They urged active participation in the city-wide signature campaign launched on the 17th of last month to attract the integrated headquarters of public power generation enterprises to Jinju.
Meanwhile, the Jinju City Public Institution Attraction Committee, launched last March, is composed of 33 members representing various sectors including the economy, culture, finance, education, media, and civic groups. The committee is striving to expand city-wide consensus for attracting public institutions through major events and promotional activities.
