Jeungpyeong County Conducts On-site Inspections of Livestock Farms and Implements Tailored Damage Prevention Measures Amid Prolonged Heatwave

Jeungpyeong County, North Chungcheong Province, has launched active on-site administrative measures to mitigate damage to livestock farms caused by the record-breaking heatwave that continues day after day.

On the 28th, Jeungpyeong County visited local livestock farms to inspect livestock rearing environments and heatwave response measures, while listening to the farmers' concerns. This inspection was conducted to enhance on-site response capabilities as concerns over damage to livestock farms have grown, with rising livestock mortality cases resulting from the recent prolonged nationwide heatwave.

During the site visit, Jeungpyeong County inspected the operation of ventilation fans and cooling systems within livestock barns and verified livestock management practices and on-site suggestions regarding heatwave damage prevention. Currently, Jeungpyeong County is actively pursuing tailored policies to prepare for the heatwave, including supplying heat stress relievers for livestock, conducting rearing environment improvement projects, and providing support for farmers' contributions to livestock disaster insurance. In addition, guidelines for action, such as adjusting feed times, ensuring sufficient water supply, and checking ventilation and cooling equipment, are being continuously provided through village broadcasts and text message services. If heatwave advisories persist, the county plans to further strengthen surveillance activities and maintain a rapid response system to constantly monitor damages, including livestock deaths.

At the site, Jeungpyeong County Governor Lee Jae-young remarked that the longer the heatwave continues, the greater the difficulties faced by livestock farmers will inevitably become. He pledged to do his utmost to provide necessary support and responses to minimize damage, while carefully examining the farmers' concerns through on-site inspections.

Meanwhile, Jeungpyeong County continued its extensive on-site efforts to minimize heat-related damage, including visiting chili pepper and fruit farms the previous day to inspect crop growth conditions and the status of heatwave response measures.
